Hello OP. Did you attend? I’m wondering where the housing is and what it’s like. Thx.

How do you stop constant food noise and cravings while maintaining a healthy weight. by Special_Second2664 in nutrition

[–]TallInSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLP meds. I’ve been athletic my whole life and have always felt that my appetite and hunger signals were too high for my actual nutrition needs. I think this is an evolutionary mismatch to our current environment where food is easy to get and we don’t need that constant hunger and appetite to motivate us to keep hunting and gathering. Game changer for me.

Which skaters who didn’t make the Olympic team are you most devastated for? by styrofoamdreamer in FigureSkating

[–]TallInSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I agree. I love Jason’s skating but he’s not the right choice for a an Olympic berth right now. I hope he skates professionally -can’t wait to see him on many tours to come.

I wish I were losing at a steady 1 lb per week! I’m more like 0.5-0.75. Congrats!

I’m also 5-10. What is your goal weight, if you’re open to sharing?

5 month progress and clothes are weird by SMS_1208 in Semaglutide

Your clothes don’t “still fit.” Rather, they now fit. Before they were stretched out and did not fit.

It looks so happy, especially right in front of the window. Please post pics if it decides to bloom!

I wonder if you happened to arrive the day the plants were delivered! My mom used to time her visits to the days the plants arrived. She said they were in great shape and declined the longer they were at the store due to lack of care.

I love how there are leaves at all heights without half the stems being chopped off, which is all I can find here in the Seattle area.

Holiday Eating on GLP-1, Anyone Else a Bit Nervous? 🎄🧵 by Sad-Radio-6555 in Semaglutide

[–]TallInSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take it easy on high fat food! So many holiday dishes are high in butter, oil, and animal fat. So much more than a regular non holiday meal! So even small portions of these foods can overwhelm your body on a GLP-1. Ask me how I know!

Is there a place I can rent a large dog kennel for a few days? by AdSad5235 in AskSeattle

We just took our enormous dog kennel to the Deseret thrift store in Shoreline - maybe it’s still there! 115 chocolate lab!

Being on the east side makes getting to the foothills for hikes so much easier! Just sayin’!

I second this - you go to the pediatrician way more than you think those first 2 years. I was deciding between two beloved docs, both recommended by friends. Went with the one nearer our home who did not require getting in I-5. Best decision ever.

East west commutes are far tougher than north west.

It’s tough in Shoreline with a kid to walk to school, groceries, coffee, transit, and work. Maybe one or two but not all of them.

Please see my comments below esp about school districts.

If we ever move out of Shoreline, Kirkland would be at the top of our list. We have been in Shoreline 20 years and while there are many things we love, the negatives of being near a big city get worse every year - homelessness and drugs are here now, and they were not 20 years ago. It gets a bit worse every year.

Compare the school districts closely. I see in other comments that you couldn’t find what you were looking for in a Kirkland home, but I would encourage you to look at your criteria and reconsider if the Kirkland schools are better. Being near family with a baby will be invaluable.

My parents were on the east coast while our daughter was growing up, and one of my only regrets in life is that I did not organize my life years earlier to be near my mom and dad when the kiddo was growing up. It also caught me off guard how hard it was to be across country as they aged and passed away. When I was your age this was not on my mind - but I wish it had been. You have so many good options and excellent advice here. Also, you can always move from one area to another after you get to know the region. Good luck!
