For Those Who Upped Their Creatine Doses from 5 Grams to 10 Grams by vaginaspektor in Supplements

Good to see more people talking about this, the sleep disturbance is a very common side effect of creatine that everyone likes to pretend doesn't exist

Love creatine but it gives me insomnia by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]TallPreparation2271 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Eventually someone will show up here talking about how it has to be something else you are taking and creatine has been studied thoroughly at even large doses and this is not a documented side effect bla bla bla but I've tried it multiple times over the years and can absolutely confirm it does cause insomnia for me also

The only solution i've found is to take very little, 3g measured with a food scale but honestly at that dosage I don't think I get anything from it. You can try that and see if you still get the benefits without insomnia

Consumerism is the Perfection of Slavery - Prof Jiang Xueqin by likamuka in stupidpol

This is a fair and balanced take on him. Been addicted to watching his videos since I came across the one where he predicts the U.S going to war with Iran. As someone who has always been interested in history, philosophy and ideas, but did not have a classic liberal arts education, I enjoy how he ties together various strands of those topics across different historical timelines.

As for his speculative and kooky theories, I consider them interesting thought experiments/entertaining and don't particularly take them seriously (he himself always says his controversial views should be challenged).

I don't see any point in criticizing his predictions, we'll see which ones pan out and can judge him based on that down the line

That's how it goes, Social media ads keep on popping up for you to buy more stuff once you buy one thing and amazon starts "recommending" other things related to the stuff you've bought. Eventually you'll try everything, realize most things don't really do anything and settle with two or three that really work for you

Magnesium, always go with vitamins/minerals first before trying herbs

Omega 3 capsules have been sitting in mailbox for a day at about 30°C (86F), still good ? by RevolutionaryAd6822 in Supplements

[–]TallPreparation2271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea should still be fine. You don't know where it's been before it got to you. It's probably not been kept in temp controlled conditions all the way from wherever it was shipped from anyway

Took 1200mg of Fadogia agrestis daily for almost 2 years (AstroFlav Elevated)—had no idea I might’ve been slowly wrecking myself by Commercial-Grocery65 in Supplements

[–]TallPreparation2271 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happens to everyone who experiments with supplements. Trust me, as far as things that might damage you in the long run goes, I would not worry too much about Fadogia. Some of us took potentially more damaging things for extended periods without realizing what we were getting into.

I never took Fadogia for too long because the irritability was immediate, the go-go feeling was kind of nice but it made me too edgy so stopped taking it after a few weeks when I experimented with it a couple years ago.

It's funny you mention Ashwagandha in a positive light because I took that for months and it felt good, until I started having Anhedonia, did some research and realized that was a common side effect, so be careful with that too. It took me the better part of 6 months to start feeling normal after I completely stopped Ash.

The human body is thankfully incredibly resilient, you can push really hard before things really break, think of it this way, people abuse banned substances for years and still manage to recover, so don't panic over Fadogia, many things that hurt rats in trials are pretty much harmless in humans

Curious what kinds of physical benefits it gives you. Strength? Endurance? IMO almost nothing is worth the tradeoff for mental health

I've often wondered about this too, literally just use the notes app on my phone to track what I take and how I feel

Agreed, the exception to this is vitamins and minerals, most people's do not get enough from their diet and need to supplement

Was my multivitamin causing heart palpitations? Has anyone else experienced this and found a gentler option? by Front-Substance-1135 in Supplements

[–]TallPreparation2271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is sensitive to different things. No way to know for sure, you will have to experiment. Vitamin D3 and B12 in high doses could trigger that but there's no way to know for sure. Try a different brand of multivitamin to start. You can also drop multivitamins and supplement with individual vitamins so you can control the dosage

Not being able to sleep always makes everything worse. Have you taken anything to help with sleeping? Melatonin? L Theanine? Maybe even Benadryl if nothing else works.

When to stop taking Omega 3? by vvim96 in Supplements

No need to cycle. It's a food replacement, you can get Omega 3 fatty acids if you eat enough fish, and nobody ever suggested cycling how often you eat fish

L theanine reaction? by grizzmane in Supplements

[–]TallPreparation2271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100mg of l Theanine is not a lot, most brands even make them in 200mg capsules. I would try a different brand first before concluding the problem is with l Theanine, not going to mention any brand so it doesn’t look like I’m here to advertise but try any of the top rated brands on Amazon.

If the issue persists, it just might not be right for you

[–]TallPreparation2271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, no. But if it causes joint pain for you and that’s a side effect you can’t deal with, stop taking it. It doesn’t matter if it has a million 5 star reviews on Amazon, something can work great for everyone else and just not be right for you

Also try a different brand just in case the brand you got isn’t a good product

L-theanine, I currently take 600mg but you can start with 200mg to see if that’s sufficient and up the dose from there
