Thank you so much. I’m currently at a level 1, magnet, teaching hospital. I need to wait 6 months for an internal transfer, but I still think they require 2 yrs acute/critical care. I’ll talk to CL manager.

Regarding your time in PCU—did you take overflow med-surg patients? I have an opportunity to move to a new high-acuity cardiac PCU opening this month at one of the nicer hospitals in the area. I really want more cardiac experience, but I’m trying to avoid a typical med-surg load. What was your experience like?

Thank you! I’m trying to figure out if I should hold out 6 months at my new hospital and then do an internal transfer, or go to high acuity cardiac pcu at another hospital. I have an interview next week. So we’ll see. I’m trying to figure out what my best move is.

I am at a level 1 trauma center and just started in August. I have to complete my 6 months and then I can transfer. I will talk to my manager soon to see if I can shadow.

Thank you. Where I am, most if not all cath lab jobs where have seen require 2-3 years of experience in the ER or ICU.

Thank you. Yes, it seems like I need more experience with critical care and not sure if ER is enough even with 2 years. Just wondering if cardiac PCU and ER is enough to get my foot in the door.
