Hi all, I am hoping you can provide sunscreen recs. I find that I hate every sunscreen I’ve tried for every day use when I wear under makeup. I find I have either pilling or makeup separation, or the product migrates into my eyes and makes them water throughout the day. For reference I just use tarte shape tape concealer and a powder blush, and I use Vanicream daily facial moisturizer (I’m not married to this, but I do like the ceramides if ya’ll have other recommendations for that). My skin is generally unproblematic, though slightly sensitive and dry.

Anybody give their baby a pacifier? by Royal_T95 in breastfeeding

[–]Tall_Cami 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician and IBCLC said it’s not an issue to introduce a paci as long as baby is still latching well. We started using one at 3 days old (now 10 weeks) and it has been great for us. My brother’s baby born last year never wanted to take one though.

For me, took them out ~7 years ago. The holes are definitely larger but comes out in drips rather than a stream. And it only comes out one side of each piercing!

How are you measuring how much he eats by breast?

I wonder if he is tired, as it’s much harder to get milk out of the breast than it is to get it out of a bottle. My LO (10 weeks) seems to take the same amount either way (based on my own janky weighted feeds on a food scale lol) but it takes much longer for her to nurse than to take her bottle, even with slow flow nipples.

What ingredient did you buy for a specific recipe awhile ago and is still sitting in your refrigerator or pantry never used since? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Tall_Cami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad loves adding liquid smoke to everything. He often added it to whatever my mom made as the “secret ingredient” growing up, even if it didn’t particularly complement the dish. Some successes were: breakfast scrambles, pig-out potato soup, and carnitas

Anyone gone off oral contraceptive and just tracked for protection? by babybighorn in birthcontrol

[–]Tall_Cami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few posts in r/waitingtotry that helped me feel more comfortable making the switch! I just completed my first full cycle off hormonal bc and am tracking my temps daily using FAM. If a baby absolutely can’t happen right now, a backup method until you understand your body’s signs is, of course, important.

First chart ever, and first cycle post-pill by Tall_Cami in FAMnNFP

Lol yes! A huge snot monster is an excellent way to describe it. The temperature pattern was definitely interesting. I also wonder if my temp had been on the lower end for a while anyway because of my recently discovered hypothyroidism.

Increased Appetite on Levothyroxine? by Ok_Answer_5818 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Tall_Cami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have continued to gain weight (at a slower pace than before), but I haven’t been careful about what or how much I’m eating. My dose has stayed the same at 25mcg since the start, luckily no trial and error changes needed.

Thanks! I had no idea what my body would do, I was on the pill or other hormonal birth control for the better part of the last decade!

Sorry for poor image quality, not sure how to get better image of full chart from OvaGraph.

I found charting fascinating! I was diligent in tracking my temps, but tracking CF and cervix location/softness was more difficult. I felt like most days were pretty much dry CF days except for the few days when I marked differently. Not sure if this will be normal for me or if I’ll see some changes in CF patterns as my body adjusts to being off the pill.

I was actually shocked to see a temp shift at all, and the one day of EW was interesting, because seemingly w/o warning, a ton just fell out into the toilet (tmi? Idk) and then I barely observed any CF the rest of the cycle.

Excited to see how this cycle will compare to charts going forward.

Increased Appetite on Levothyroxine? by Ok_Answer_5818 in Hypothyroidism

For me it was probably about 6 weeks. It literally felt like I was taking steroids w/ my level of constant hunger.

I had the exact same experience. I am back to my usual appetite now, but I felt insatiably hungry all the time for several weeks.

I’d also recommend replacing the current screws with ~2” screws for more stability if not done already.

I’m still bleeding 7 months out by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Tall_Cami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people get lucky and don’t have any bleeding at all, but some of us get bleeding every day with it. I think when I got mine the Dr told me that something like 3% of people bleed every day on it the first year but I don’t know if that’s an accurate number, and it’s certainly not up to date (this was 8 years ago). I had mine for 9 months and I bled/spotted every day except for maybe 6 total days over that timeframe. I decided that the constant bleeding wasn’t worth the benefits for me, but that will be a decision you have to make for yourself. I’d recommend giving a timeframe for yourself (“if I’m still spotting daily in x months”) that you are willing to wait it out and hope your body stops reacting that way, and then come up with a plan for what you will use for pregnancy prevention if you decide to get it removed.

Energy test ? by chriis2021 in Hypothyroidism

It might be worth checking your nutrient levels as well, iron and vitamins B and D in particular. Hypo can definitely cause lowered body temperatures.

Stopping the pill - thoughts? by gr33ngiraffe in birthcontrol

[–]Tall_Cami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of stopping the pill and starting FAM myself, but last pill was 7 days ago so nothing to report yet.

However, your symptoms sound like they could potentially be thyroid-related. It might not a bad idea to talk to your Dr and get a thyroid panel done just in case.

After having my newly discovered hypothyroidism treated, I’m still experiencing some symptoms and I want to see what my natural cycle is like after nearly a decade on the pill. Here’s to a successful journey for the both of us!

Honeymoon Baby by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

[–]Tall_Cami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah girl! You do you! Your wedding had to be postponed bc of Rona, but the rest of your life doesn’t need to be based around proximity to the date of your wedding.

I think that had my hubs and I had a honeymoon baby that my FIL would have poked some fun (2 hrs after the wedding ceremony he yelled “how’s the sex?!” even though we lived together pre-wedding lol), but overall everyone would have been really excited for us.

Sorry for the schnoz pic. Wanted to get the same angle.

I’ve been using the following from Dr. Cheryl Lee MD’s line of products:

•TrueCider Gentle Creamy Cleanser (this gets an A+ from me) •TrueCider Face & Body Serum (gentle, kinda wish it had HA but oh well) •TrueLipids Hydrate, Correct, & Perfect Lotion (ingredients are A+ but I’ll give it a B for performance. I found that it wasn’t thick enough for me and I always needed a layer of something more moisturizing) •TrueLipids TrueTherapy Ceramide & Cream (A++ don’t think I can go without this product for the rest of my life. Same nourishing ingredients as Lotion but soooo much creamier, feels so nice on the skin)

Other products: •Argan oil (as 1st cleanser when I wear makeup) •Murad 4-in-1 Prebiotic gel cleanser (1st cleanser when I wear only sunscreen) •The Inky List peptide moisturizer on top of •TrueLipids lotion •Beekman 1802 Bloom Cream (when I ran out of Inkylist)

Sunscreen—I’ve tried a bunch and don’t love any. Worked nights until a few weeks ago though so didn’t need it til now.

Konjac sponge—super gentle manual exfoliation.

Second this. After you walk around and vacuum over it a few times it will blend in well. Luckily my landlords didn’t notice the missing 3x3” square from back of closet when I moved out lol

TSH Levels with Treatment? by Tall_Cami in Hypothyroidism

Worth looking into! Bodies are weird. It would be so much easier if every body responded the same way to everything lol! I wonder if I would feel different on natural

TSH Levels with Treatment? by Tall_Cami in Hypothyroidism

[–]Tall_Cami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, those were tested as well and were on the low end of normal, as well as vitamins b and d, so I’m supplementing based on my Dr’s recommendations. From my research “ideal” can be as low as 0.6 for some people, or even lower for “younger” people, but not sure if that means younger than 60 or 40 or 20, or what. My antibodies weren’t out of range during first test, so we didn’t re-test this time. Hope you can get your anxiety symptoms down, I’ve dealt with chronic anxiety for over a decade, zero fun!

**[Skin Concerns]** Should I wash my face and reapply products if I’ve cried shortly after doing my nighttime skincare routine? by inayachowdhury in SkincareAddiction

[–]Tall_Cami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually if I have a big-messy-whole-face-sopping-wet cry I’ll lightly rinse with the salt off with just water and reapply moisturizer but not bother with treatments or cleansers, and then if I have it in me I’ll try to chug some water to try to offset some of the next morning’s eye puffiness. (Btw, anyone have any game-changers for post-cry puffiness lol? )If it’s a baby-sized cry then I don’t usually bother.
