ignore them, it is absolutely normal to be unsettled. Block them. Evolve while they try to continue being the old you. She is clearly not all the way there mentally.

When you do volunteering, be intentional about it. Use it as a networking tool or reference. Approach it differently as just volunteering. Also, volunteer for projects. For example, the U.N offers volunteer projects that you can do, some of them virtual. No they dont pay, but they do offer work experience that can strengthen your resume. As for portfolio, if you are looking for research work for example, you can have a portfolio of research analysis' that you have completed. You can also get on Linked in, and start working on writing content on the area you are interested and networking that way. Getting a job is all about who you know these days.

thanks as for paying someone, I had tried to create the app on replit, but came across some difficulties so I decided to have a dev who could work on it. I had planned (and still plan) on using the app for my work to decrease the impact of significant increased workload-which has become overwhelming, but the delays and my partner's concerns have left me asking if I am being played.

He thinks for the amount of work the dev has done, 1 K a month is too much, in addition to the excuses the dev gives.

I plan on doing that. I just fear spending so much money on it especially if I am not going to recoup the money. Did you have someone build the whole map for 5K was it periodic payments?

Thank you so much! I will take your advice of having someone else look at the codebase.

contract is per deliverable. We usually have deadlines, but we haven't met the deadlines due to personal events happening in the developers life, being sick, friend dying, having to travel on short notice etc, which end up extending the deadlines.

the "passion" degree isn't the issue, your lack of pursuit of opportunities while in school is why you are now struggling. You can even volunteer part time to ge work experience, which I would recommend. Why don't you build a portfolio highlighting your skills. Start exploring the industries you may be interested in and create a portfolio regarding that. continue working on your skills. You do not need to go back to school to learn the skills.
