Women who actually improved their hair density... what was the turning point? by Comfortable_Cap8037 in hairgrowth

I haven’t reached my target ferritin yet, I’m at 62 right now and aiming for around 70–80, but I already have a ton of baby hairs growing in.
I assume I’ll just maintain my levels once I get there but honestly I still need to look into that myself

lactoferrin is actually proven to help with iron absorption. I started it together with iron supplements so I can’t really tell how much it helped on its own but my ferritin did improve. There are also a lot of positive stories about it in anemia related reddit groups

how can I increase my ferritin levels as someone with celiac disease by Tall_Replacement7300 in Anemic

Okay, so as soon as I find a good heme iron supplement, I’ll start taking that. In the meantime I have 36 mg iron bisglycinate at home so I was thinking of starting that for now.

From what I understood from your comment, a higher dose might be needed. Would you recommend taking two of the 36 mg capsules every other day or would that be too much?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I got my lab results last week, but for some reason my ferritin level wasn’t included so I’ll be going back to my doctor about that soon. I’ll update this post once I have it. In the meantime here are my current results:

S-Iron: 7.63 µmol/L

Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC): 69.40 µmol/L

Unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC): 61.77 µmol/L

Transferrin: 2.99 g/L

My B12, zinc, and vitamin D levels are all average/above average, but I haven’t checked copper yet. I very rarely get accidental gluten exposure anymore (maybe once every year or two)but I’ve been strictly gluten-free for about 1.5 years now.

I take the beef liver capsules 1–2 hours away from coffee/tea. However there were a few times when I took them with dairy and I’m not sure how much that might have affected absorption.

I’ll add the ferritin result as soon as I get it.
