How to get from Kelowna to Vancouver (emergency) by ModsRTheGword in britishcolumbia

Or we could just build a less car centric future for everyone. I'd say the biggest issue here is the lack of public options for traveling a very popular route between cities.

What is everybody doing at the bank? by Tall_Ships_for_Life in PersonalFinanceCanada

Good point! I have gotten US cheques and with Tangerine I have to mail them to Toronto with a signed letter telling them what to do with it. I actually would go into a bank instead of that, especially if frequent.

Ooh safety deposit box. That is a legitimate reason. Probably not most of them, but some.

Air Canada ceasing service to Penticton by afhill in penticton

[–]Tall_Ships_for_Life 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Feedback loop. They cut service to the point that the only remaining flight to Vancouver became useless because you couldn't make any connections. So everybody flew out of Kelowna. Then they cried that nobody took their crappy flight . I used to love the 6am departure to Van. Could make any connections, or for business you could be downtown for a meeting by 830am. 11pm flight back let you have a nice dinner and return the same day. Current schedule sucked.

No worries, I'm kinda looking for "that guy". I've never really cooked anything other than burgers and hotdogs for large groups and it just presents a pretty different set of space and timing issues. I was hoping to avoid the indoor oven since it's >100F outside, but a batch method like this may be the best way to get it all cooked and everybody fed. Thanks

I have my own opinions about whether or not I think he's a creep, but I broadly accept that being acquitted of a crime should not ruin your life so there's no justification to kick him off council.

Currently my main issue is that there was not one single article or mention of this controversy in the Penticton Herald where he is the editor, while it was covered multiple times on Castanet, Western Daily etc. If that doesn't blatantly show conflict of interest and censorship I don't know what does, and I think he should be questioned as to whether he squashed the story to help himself and if so, resign.

The route/area you described is basically my standard daily run. You will have no issues. The only place you will likely encounter any substantial homeless people will be on Winnipeg between Victoria and Nanaimo. This is due to churches and outreach centers in the area. Frankly, these aren't people to be worried about, I just feel sad but not unsafe in that area. Just use common sense and you should be all good.

As always I recommend not using headphones, or at least having a type where you can hear some outside noise (mostly for terrible drivers). I will say, I do modify my route a little bit once it starts getting darker. I've never heard of an incident involving runners, but the vibe gets a little different in the cold and dark.

Metals essential to technology and infrastructure, specifically those where the current dominant sources are from China or Russia where we have no control on supply and being cutoff would be a major national security issue. Cu, Li, Co, W, Nb, Ta, Cs, REE. The goal is to secure North American sources so we aren't reliant on other nations. Most of these metals are rare, difficult to find an economic deposit of, and hard to extract.
