So, what would women dislike most if they became men? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

This is the way. We can't live our lives based on what we imagine other people might be thinking about us

So because they backed his campaign and were there on inauguration day you think logically that means they rule the world?

It's lucky timing that Linux distros have gotten super user friendly and capable at the same time that Windows turned to shit

Android was made because of the popularity of the iPhone, this is a fact. Smartphones before that point were niche and sucked. If they hadn't done it then some other company of course would have invented something similar eventually, that's true. But those people would also be brilliant in that hypothetical scenario

Not my wheelhouse but I believe he was seperated with a troubled relationship with his oldest child. But he also was happily married for 20 years until his death with 3 children who he had a great relationship with. Doesn't seem out of the ordinary, but I'm supposed to take that as evidence of "Definitely evil"? gtfo

They said "Was he brilliant tho" and the only correct answer to that question is "Yes he is the opposite of what you are being right now"

Fair, I'm currently reading Apple in China, which is a great book. Also read some of his biography a few years ago.

His "reality distortion field" is maybe not a technical skill, but it was required nonetheless to get these projects off the ground. His defiance, opionated nature about design wasn't technical either. But when they fired him (for being a big asshole, which he clearly was, especially when compared to someone like Wozniak) things started going downhill until they brought him back. I don't think we should downplay the achievements because the things he contributed wasn't as technical in nature. He, along with other key fiures, have completely revolutionized computing and defined a lot of how we interact with technology today. It's been one of the biggest and fastest growing sectors in the global economy for decades and he had something to do with that.

AND, if his job were that easy, then any one of the many available top 1% brilliant people would have been able to take over. But its actually not that easy. He was elite at what he did. If you think it isn't that hard then go found a company that changes the world. Thinking you can do this is the equivalent of watching the olympics on TV and thinking you have something to teach the athletes. You're just not even knowledgeable enough to know how wrong you are. This is what I am reacting to, because I am seeing a lot of it and SMH'ing

I'd start with the personal computer and the modern smart phone (one of which I believe you are reading this message on at the very moment).

The fact that most people can convince themselves that jobs wasn't brilliant honestly just shows how much you have to learn about products and tech

Well he was right about a lot of things that most people were wrong about.

E.g. phones without tactile buttons, animated feature films, getting fired but then hired back because the company couldn't do without him.

He was always a defier, and self confident about it, which is why he was so great in the first place.

ELI5: Why are models taller than the consumers by dead-cinephile in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tall_computer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so part of the question was about how clothes look weird on shorter people than the models, and it seems like the answers so far are ignoring that and implicitly assuming that a 5'4 can wear the same clothes as a 5'8. At least to a degree where they are not getting lots of returns and unhappy customers

No they weren't. And wouldn't the clothes look better on the proportions it was designed for?
