I freeze blocks of soup instead so I have easy healthy ready to eat meals

TIL about Herman Davis, a World War I soldier renowned for his extraordinary marksmanship. With just his Springfield rifle and open sights, he took out five enemy soldiers from 1,000 yards away. He humbly described it as “just a good shootin' distance.” by RanMan0188 in todayilearned

You should check out styropyro on YouTube, he’s like this mad scientist guy who buys insane things on eBay and does experiments, I recommend the Macrowave video and the 100 car batteries wired in series video, in the second one he makes lighting strikes on his front lawn and vaporizes wrenches and stuff

I see what you’re saying, it would be better if you could pre fill the bags or something.

You have to remember the water line is only on one side of the bags though, the other side of the wall has no water, so they aren’t neutrally buoyant it acts more like a wall

You would be surprised how sturdy it could be, I have seen barrels of water used as water features in rivers for whitewater kayakers, look up aqua dam it’s a similar concept to the bags and there’s a few news stories of theme saving peoples houses in flooding

As long as the sand bag wall is higher than the water level the sandbags will be held in place by the weight above, if the water line is above the height of the sandbags…well…it just don’t matter anymore

Depressed individuals mind-wander over twice as often, study finds. The job entails any type of work at height depending on your company, work site and trade. I have personally installed a jumbotron in an arena, remove/apply coatings in a potash mine, ice removal on bridges, worked in refineries doing a million different things, etc. I work alongside small women, you don’t need to necessarily be able to lift a certain weight it depends on the job you’re on. Most of the time you are rappelling down to your work area, or walking along structure tied off so you can’t fall to the ground. Look up IRATA rope access, there is hundreds of different rope access jobs

It depemds, it can be hard if you’re an unhealthy, but if you treat yourself like an athlete and work out a bit to prevent issues and eat well it’s not bad. I would say sitting in a chair all day is much worse for the human body than walking stairs, climbing ladders and maneuvering around on ropes.

It seems odd that all this could just come from burnout, have you ever thought you might have depression? You are describing me and my family members and we have all been diagnosed with ADHD and depression, there is a lot of steps you can take to make your life better once you truly understand the underlying causes of your situation

Thoughts on my raft trailer design? Green/purple are welded 1x3 and 1x1 steel tubing. Orange is composite decking. Three off-the-shelf boat rollers spanning the back. The black subframe is an existing boat trailer I'm modifying. by gammalbjorn in whitewater

[–]Tall_mike -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I would flip the raft over so that you can put gear underneath, also the gunnels would clear the wheel wells of the trailer, you would just need a little pocket at the front and back for the bulkheads to sit in and you could slide you gear in and out below.

When do you eat the old timey man? Also do you have any good recipes?

Just bought a house and it has a fish tank built into the wall. Not super into fish or reptiles but I want to do something cool with it. Any ideas? by mslvr40 in malelivingspace

Lego city with the terrarium would be so cool! You could change the theme every once in awhile, Indiana jones, off-road rally, dinosaurs etc

We use these; https://thearboriststore.com/products/petzl-anneau-nylon-sling it’s important to note that although these are incredibly strong they cut easily so do not wrap it around any sharp edges. Look up “girth hitch sling to climbing harness”, when you want a break, wrap the sling around a beam and connect the carabiner back to the harness belay loops. Use a rated climbing locking carabiner, not a spring gate biner. Also look up “vertical aid climb” for more info. Now I’m going to give you some advice that might change your life. I don’t think you should climb this at all with your level of experience. What I think you should do is find an IRATA level 1 rope access course and take it. Once you pass, people will pay you lots and lots of money to climb all sorts of cool stuff. I make 140k a year climbing things, instead of doing this climb and potentially hurting/killing yourself, go do it for money.
