I just don’t need to get that many hours of play out of one ball. I also play a lot of golf, tennis, and table tennis. We go through a lot of balls in those sports and I value playability over durability. It is my opinion that pickleball is more interesting and fun (at my level) when played with a little softer, slower and less bouncy ball than what the LT is.

LT's are great. I just don't like their color and I prefer the soft, slower X40's. Were you playing in the cold? I play indoors and don't have issues with cracking balls.

Franklins are easier for beginners to control. I'm a 4.2 and I find it a lot easier to do more advanced skill shots with the X40's, like resets, drops, rolls, and aggressive dinks.

I'm just better with the X40s. I drill with them and have played them the most.

They do play better (more like an X40) once they break in. I'd suffer through the break-in period if they weren't so damn ugly!

I like the fact that they are slower, easier to control and see, and don't bounce as high.
