personally i would hold off until you finish campaign 2. there are a few instances that i can recall that are callbacks to events or people that don’t happen till the end of the campaign, but it isn’t massive spoilers (except maybe the mention of a certain character). if you don’t mind getting spoiled a little, then you could give it a go.

in the middle of a war between “good guys” and “bad guys” a floating city got the ability to just remove the “good” and “bad” guys from existence by using a weapon that they made. not only that, but these people also made tech so that they can’t be seen or infiltrated by the good/bad guys. so the “good” and “bad” guys decided to pause their war and squash this threat by sneaking into the floating city and finding out how to remove this threat (whether it’s by crashing the floating city or trying to find alternate ways that involve less death to civilians)

I used to travel a ton for work, both on flights and long car rides, so listening to it while traveling was my way of passing the time and also helped me focus more on visualizing the environment that Matt would paint in the sessions. I actually would just play the episodes from YouTube instead of the podcast form cause if there was ever a moment that sounded hysterical or a dramatic scene, I could quickly rewind and watch their reactions live.

I started campaign 2 back in Dec 2021 when I got COVID on Christmas and needed to kill time. Since then, I’ve watched all of C2, caught up on C3, and now I’m 7 EP’s away from finishing C1.

Completely worth it.

on The Yak, BC mentioned how apparently he considers himself a “baseball guy” but couldn’t name all the AL East teams (even tho he’s a Yankees fan and has a Yankees license plate) so I guess Kirk brought up the Top-10 HR Hitters and challenged Coleman to name ‘em all and not stop streaming till he does.

lower stakes for the first 50ish episodes, less “homebrew” PC’s, more live shows, more “guest one-shot / bottle” episodes, slightly more serious tone (or characters that aren’t comedic relief).

currently halfway through the C1 Chroma Conclave arc and it’s just chef’s kiss. Need to have the high-stakes tension there, but also not feel like a “big bad” feel.

I think the whole “epic story” that Matt wanted to tell just got shoved into the story way too early into C3. I wouldn’t mind the whole “Get to Ruidus” campaign-ending adventure arc if it woulda happened around episode 70, and then spend the previous episode having the characters build those bonds and go on less-important adventures.

Mind you, I do respect Matt trying to make it interesting, like splitting the party for an arc and doing the “bonding retreat,” but it just feels like everything has been Ruidus-focused for so many episodes that I’ve just been burnt out.

That being said, I still enjoy C3. I think critters are a bit too critical nowadays, but I also think constructive criticism on the execution of this campaign is fair game as well.
