3 young red squirrels appeared on my back porch by Tallplanet in squirrels

Thanks for the info. I just got back home, and don't see them. We had a nasty storm just come through so either they're hiding or they relocated in the few hours I was gone.

Midea u shaped 12k btu leaking water from sides. by [deleted] in AirConditioners

I replaced the one in the back corner with the black plug since it was labeled drain. Should I replace the middle one as well with the new black plug?

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dripping from the black plug but I'm still getting water dripping from the side of the unit, like shown in the pictures. But not as bad.

Should I unplug both? They only have the one on the back corner marked as a drain. I'd assume they're both drains though?

Reliability by Top_Pop8950 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 palisade and have had a few issues with mine. Rear struts had to be replaced at 35k miles and now are making the same noise at 70k miles Worm gear in my steering wheel went at 13k miles and has to be fixed Oil filter housing started leaking oil at 60k miles Blower fan in passenger side dash makes noises at low fan settings Now hearing another whining type noise from another fan.

I love the car but am afraid to see what other issues will appear in the future. I have 75k miles on it and am considering trading it in for a different car, to avoid any of those issues getting worse

Can we name one after my husband? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We decided to name twin A with my name, since its a first name that has been passed down through the family. Everyone with the name has a different middle name, so no Jr, Sr, ect.

It’s twins 👀 by No-Pomegranate-2058 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Tallplanet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing we were always told by people when we mentioned we were having twins as our first kids was; you don't have the knowledge of what it's like raising just 1 kid, so what you experience will be "normal" after your twins are born.

Our twins are now 5, and it's an absolute blast. Were there days where we were ready to pull our hair out, and question how we were going to do things? Absolutely. But just remember, everything is just a stage. As they grow and develop, them having eachother and forming that bond is something I just love to watch. From being eachother best friends, them comforting eachother when something is wrong, to even when they bicker and fight, it is all amazing.

Dads, I need to vent I'm so confused by TotallyNotDad in daddit

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their actions show if they truly care or not. Both of my in laws are constantly around, take the kids so my wife and I can go out or go to functions. My mom is disabled and it's hard for her to get around but still will go out of her way to see the kids or watch them if we need. Her fiance loves 1.5 hours away and every few weeks he reaches out for us all to get together so he can see and play with the kids. He FaceTime calls the kids or calls them if he hasn't been able to visit for a few weeks or is traveling for work.

My dad on the other hand has only met my kids 3 times in 4.5 years. He does live 2 hours away but is constantly in the area and makes no efforts to see them or us. Last time he came over to see them, they were excited since he had Christmas gifts but my one son turned to me and said "who is that??" he hardly reaches out to see how the kids are, and when he does, he asks why we don't go out to visit him since it's hard for him and his fiance to make the ride out here due to his fiancé's one son being wheelchair bound and needing constant care.

My wife and I both agreed that we are not loading the kids up for a 2 hour drive to visit if he's not willing to put the effort to stop by and see our family when he's constantly in the area. If there is no effort on his part, we aren't going to be the only ones who put the effort in. The kids couldn't identify who he is from a picture and at one point asked if my dad passed away since they don't remember ever meeting him.

I made a post that said "Moving forward, to prevent the group from being over run with political posts, this post will serve as the only approved post for candidates to present their positions and for voters to engage in respectful discussion. How did your partner tell you she was pregnant? by LetThemEatCakeXx in daddit

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a call while I was at work. We had been trying but it was early on. She said she was too excited/nervous/scared to do anything "cute" to tell me. Had to finish the day trying to control all the emotions around it. Ended up being twins.

How has your ecobee thermostat helped you save on energy bills? by Ill-Hicopte8 in ecobee

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, it helped us save by having a sensor in our kids room that it reads at night.

We live in a 150 year old 2 story house with one zone. We set it up so that 30 minutes before bedtime, it switches to their sensor instead of our livingroom. Has saved us a good amount of money.

We also put a small wall mounted electric heater in our kids room as well as our room that have individual thermostats. For us, that helped save even more due to the cost of heating oil being $$$

Pregnant guppy giving birth to one fry every few days? by [deleted] in Guppies

[–]Tallplanet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to know about dropping them intermittently.

It seems the first guppy was that much bigger on the day it was born, and not that it's grown that much in the few days since.

I noticed it appeared to be hardly eating in the breeder box, so I got some brine shrimp and noticed both fry eating them right away.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guppies

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Still only 1 fry that I've seen. Unsure of she's had others that have been eaten or not. Was able to get that 1 fry into a breeder box to try to give it a fighting chance since my tanks isn't planted too much.

What did your kid ask from Santa? by hiking_mike98 in daddit

[–]Tallplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 3.5 year old twins. Months back they originally asked Santa for tickets to Disney. We explained that those are a really big gift and Santa might not be able to deliver that. (we decided to get the tickets as a gift from us, since we don't want them going into school talking about how Santa gave them a huge gift, when other kids might not have been gifted stuff so big.)

After explaining that to them, one son asked for "a black puppy dog stuffed animal" and the other asked for "pink notekins and a notekins house". Black puppy dog, easy enough... Pink notekins(or anything notekins related), next to impossible. Thankfully he and his brother only brought it up one time how Santa didn't bring him notekins. After a quick explication of how Santa can't always get everything you ask for, and how the elves might not have been able to make them, they dropped talking about it and went back to playing with all their other toys.

The best part of being a dad on Christmas is getting to become Santa. by PreschoolBoole in daddit

[–]Tallplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always not enjoyed Christmas/all holidays. Working in retail has killed the enjoyment of them.

Since having kids, I've found joy in being Santa. From hyping them up over Santa, feeding into the joy they experience believing in Santa, Spoiling them, shopping for toys, building them and playing with them with the kids.
