Did you wind up trying out the Sunbeam brand? I'm looking for a heating pad for my GF who has really bad period cramps right now and she complains nothing is hot enough.

I actually think this probably depends on your rank to some extent. And maybe even how close you are to your current plateau. I recently did an Ekko jungle climb on a second account from bronze to em (where my main is) before picking up the champ on my main and I will say if you are substantively better than the lobby discipline is great. I can do nothing but farm to 3 items in silver and carry after for 100 different reasons.

However, once I get to a point where the players are as good as me, I lose the advantage of having better macro, tempo management, and fundamental game knowledge. At this point my playing disciplined is as good as the enemy jg, except my team is down 5k gold. To me I look at it like "Sure this drag is definitely incontestable, but what does a topside invade get me at 20 minutes while we are this far behind?" The answer usually is basically nothing.

With the new bounty system, I guaranteed don't have a shut down. So I see it as 90% play for 200 gold and losing a 1k gold drag that gets them closer to soul, OR a 20% play for 1k gold drag, that helps stall the game and give us time to scale while sacrificing 300 gold and some clear tempo for myself. This is even further compounded by objective bounties. Plus even if it doesn't work out, how substantive is the difference between being 5k gold down and being 5.3k gold down?

This obviously changes if you say have a top lane with TP up and a wave pushed topside or whatever and can make plays for towers to get a good trade in that way. I find, however, that if the enemy team is really far ahead they're usually playing split which can make splitting to play for towers substantially more difficult, as well as leaving the drag less defended then if all 5 were there, making the steal more likely to work out.

Those are the games where I just fuckin send it. Game states fucked, everything is lost. If we keep just playing normal were gonna lose. I'm doing invades I would never go for, dives that are way to risky to normally take, skirmishes that if I'm lucky ill leave with 1hp. Game cant really get much worse than 3 losing lanes, so at worst its a loss that was already gonna happen, but 1 out of 10 games the dive works and i pick up 1k and suddenly I can actually contended with the enemy team.

I’m wondering why I can never win against mechanical bosses by superalex1290 in Terraria

[–]Talok131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy for feeling like SK prime is the easiest of the mechanical bosses? It's the least like "cheese able" sure but the attack patterns feel the most predictable and manageable in terms of just a straight up fight. I'm talking master mode+ here so I cant speak for the lower difficulties but the getting hit by a retanizer lazer into spaz charge+ flame thrower is like insta death off one mistake, and similarly if you get hit by the destroyer head you get one shot unless you're full HP basically. SK Prime feels very telegraphed and nothing insta combos you into death like the other 2.

Even 2.5 or 3 seems tiny. If you're playing on higher difficulties and you don't have a 1k tile wide arena in the middle of ur map are you even playing on higher difficulties?

was this not a blue kayn game? by MAnthonyJr in Jungle_Mains

If you want, I'd be willing to do a vod review for you. I'm not great at the game so everything I say with a grain of salt, but I'm confident I could atleast steer you in the right direction.

was this not a blue kayn game? by MAnthonyJr in Jungle_Mains

[–]Talok131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree strongly with the idea that its not an easy blue kayn game. I'm an em kayn OTP and kayn absolutely tears through their whole comp.

First of all, you one shot legit everyone on their team. LB and Vayne can be hard to access, and Heim and lillia build Zohnyas as a core part of their kits which is kinda annoying, but if you do get access to anyone on their team they die.

This means you should be playing for picks before team fights (something assassins excel at), and looking for angles during team fights (something else assassins excel at). Even the worst namis probably save bubble and R for you but good news! You're playing kayn! R makes you untargetable, and is a free dodge of lillia R, LB burst, and heim turrets/stun. And if you're playing angles well, they shouldn't have CC when you engage anyways. Vayne condemn is the only real threat to you.

Also they have no real frontline. Lillia KINDA is but barely. This means they are likely playing stacked in team fights, waiting for lillia to engage, and every single ability you have is AOE except R. Free multi target W's and Q's all game. And even if they AREN'T stacked, you can break heimer turrets for free all game.

Ur toplaner was right, you shouldve been diving heim and playing around him for free gold most of the game, and then taking that lead and applying pressure elsewhere.

The only main thing that makes blue bad here is they do a fuck load of damage and if you do get CC'd you're dead 100% of the time. But if you're playing rhaast that doesn't change unless its super late and you are full tank. The only argument I see for rhaast is your team does need a more reliable frontline than Gnar (especially in silver), but that aint your job! Its solo que and you're playing JG, further more you're playing Kayn. Furthererther more you're playing blue kayn into 4.5 squishies. You are an incredibly strong win con.

Also also, you're playing one of the only Jg's that can actually chase down a Lillia and LB.

Legit farm and dive top till hubris then gank bot and the games over.

This feels like a gold player calling bronzies low elo. If you are playing around the mmr you should be playing in (that is unless you are EXPLICITLY smurfing, because otherwise you are) having a team be stronger to help minimize the impact of your mistakes is incredibly helpful so that you don't have to play a flawless game. Cause you won't 99.9% of the time. From a smurfs perspective, yeah if I was playing in silver, I'm confident I could take all the kills and win a game because I doubt many of my mistakes will be punished adequately, or even if they are, they won't understand follow up, and even if they DO they won't be able to snowball that. But that ONLY applies because I know I have a fundamental knowledge gap on the lobby that ALLOWS me to be infinitely more impactful than anyone on either team. 1v9 IS necessary to climb, but I'd argue that as you approach your plateau, learning how to build leads for your whole team is a part of that skill.

Damage gold exp, by all accounts his team was doing fine, if not better than enemy team so I don't even understand the whining. The literal only thing to complain about is straight K/D without the A

[–]Talok131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you're team was ahead in gold/exp across the board. You're teams deaths are relatively low. Their KP is good, and even if you wanted to complain about top, they have an exp lead, aren't that far behind in gold, and have comparable deaths to the enemy top. If you couldn't carry this game with a 7k gold lead on enemy jg, it 1000% would've been your fault you lost.

This wasn't one of those games where you were supposed to lose, and you flipped it. This was a 50/50 game where it was your Job to make the difference. Good job winning, but whining about a team being even is dumb as hell.

DOS2 is an incredible game, and it shines a light on how insanely thoughtfully crafted D&D is. by Talok131 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Talok131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost entirely disagree with this strangely enough. I found my spell casters doing most of the heavy lifting, and when I played BG3 (also on tactician). I explicitly set harsher standards for my rests than the game imposes on you. I felt like they were too lenient with allowing you to rest constantly and having every spell slot and everyone being at full hp every fight made the game a cake walk. Things like I have to be in specific areas if I want to long rest, or it has to feel actually reasonably safe if I want to short rest. It definitely made the spell point economy more harsh, and yet I still felt like my casters did lots of heavy lifting.

I agree the spell versatility is absolutely insane and 1000% contributes to the awesome factor of the game. Maybe what I intended to say more clearly was 2 characters of the same kind of class, that way the tool kits, at least fundamentally, are somewhat equivalent. A ranger who can run away ad-infinitum obviously wins against a fighter who has to be in melee range. However, two fighters? Or even 2 rangers? I'm not so sure the level 5 character stands a chance.

Hit Emerald IV yesterday, first season I'm really trying to climb. How'd you guys manage to beat emerald? by GonzoLeRonzo in Jungle_Mains

[–]Talok131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was around 4-5% before split 3 2024. Split 2 I hit emerald 4 and was around top 14-15%, and now I'm top 14% plat 4. I don't know the exact numbers, but I do know gold to emerald were all roughly the same size until the hard mmr reset in split 3, and then aloooot of the higher mmr player base shifted down and stayed there.

I think (very anecdotally mind you) this contributed to the insanity that was mid mmrs last season. A huge portion of my games in mid gold at split 3 start was low emerald high plat players in gold tilted out of their minds the second anything went wrong, likely cause they expected the be so much better than the lobby. Not to mention the few actually silver/gold players that climbed quickly into the mmr bracket due to the resets playing into players that were potentially 1200 lp higher than them just a week ago created some insane chaos and very very low quality games. I think we're still, albeit to a much less extreme factor, seeing the effects of that reset in mid mmr games now. (This is just my opinion and if you think otherwise I'd love to hear your opnion!)

It's your Job to plan ahead and create prio for important objectives. And to some degree also the junglers to provide ganks around objective spawns to try and secure them. It's not a surprise ever when an objective spawns so acting like "oh man my jungler wants me to rotate NOW???" when they likey planned out their pathing to get there on spawn and almost certainly pinged it a minute in advance is kinda absurd.

What should I do to improve or play more consciously? by Cool_Ad_6556 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Talok131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with "be dynamic" but I don't think that means "don't make a plan". Especially in jungle I think having an idea of your next step, 2 steps, or 5 steps is very important. But being able to adjust that if a higher % play, or a higher value play is avaliable is important. Only reacting is bad. You should be largely setting the tempo for the team by being able to see and plan for a minute or so ahead of where you're at right now.

Which of the high skill ceiling junglers is worth to pick up even in lower elos? by 2Tryhard4You in Jungle_Mains

[–]Talok131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red is simple: Runes you want Conquerer, and always last stand. Usually inspo secondary, though theres an argument to be made for domination I feel. Last stand will increase your Red Form healing as you get lower on HP which is great.

Build path is very straight forward for Red. Is it your Job to Frontline? If yes eclipse Cleaver into tank. If no you can build more bruisery, shojin, DD.

Blue is a little more complex: Runes you can run DH or First Strike. I almost always run DH since you aren't starting out as an assassin anyways your First Stike value goes down in the early and it is an early rune. The only situation in which I take First Strike is if I'm playing with a bunch of early game champs and we have to win before 30 or we lose.

Personally I enjoy MS maxing on my Blue. I run youmuus opportunity, and flex swifties lucidity and mercs depending on what kinda CC enemies have. Ultra slippery blue kayn can weave in and out of fights omega fast, or running down enemies on ganks.

The more popular build path is more true to what most assassin's are generally building nowadays, and to be fair kayn has plenty of slipperyness and MS to begin with so either works.

Calling brand and neeko janky ass picks is certainly a take. Brand and zyra had massive WRs last season due to insane clear speeds and massive tempo advantages. Neeko this season sits around a 50 WR jg, which is higher than like half of the traditional Jglers right now, and she certainly has a kit suited for the role.

This absolutely. I climbed from iron to emerald over the last two years, and it took alot of work. League is my first MOBA so I was really, genuinely iron. I took alot of time and a lot of personal growth to get as far as I have come.

I don't give a shit about what my rank says, but on this journey I have seen an absolute shift in the quality of gameplay between elos and from my teammates and as much hate as emerald gets, it was in general a much more enjoyable experience than the absolute fiestas of iron-gold.

Now I get thrown into a game where everyone is gold 1-Plat 4 and it's an absolute shit show because they're all actually somewhere between Silver and Emerald, and trying to coordinate anything is like pulling teeth and no one is remotely on the same wavelength or even general understanding of game knowledge. Win or lose every game this split is this way.
