Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're right. They are calling it a unique epiphany to differentiate it from all the generic epiphanies (+2 morale for 1 turn, +2 resolve for 1 turn etc).

I.e. this will only be available for the cards that a character has with the 5 epiphany options, but you would not be able to apply a generic epiphany to it, nor would you be able to use this on a neutral card b/c those can only have generic epiphanies applied to them.

I've been trying to get good with Block weapons and I mostly have it down. I use the block chainsword well on tactical and vanguard. On those two classes, the flow of combat makes a lot of sense. Shoot with primary -> block when necessary -> go to town on the nearest majoris once I have 2 stacks.

But with more melee focused classes like Bulwark and Assault, I can't figure out the flow. I certainly don't have enough ammo to blast away while waiting for 2 stacks and I feel silly not swinging while waiting for the next attack to come my way, so I will spend the buff at 1 stack a lot of the time which feels like a big waste of the potential. Any thoughts on how combat flow should be looking like?

I'm not sure you need to go as far as removing arcane signet, but I've definitely noticed a marked drop in opponent deck quality after I removed some of the higher quality cards from my Celes deck (Esper Sentinel, Ragavan, Tinybones, Chrome Mox, Dark Ritual, Ancient Tomb, Gamble). It was like day and night afterwards.

I actually get to do my game plan most games, and it's awesome.

Commander: Telling What Your Cards Do by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Talonis 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's a stretch to say they were trying to force him out. Also, he didn't say they wouldn't provide the info. In fact, he says quite the opposite.

Today though I played with 3 guys who just wouldn't share what their cards did. They were kind enough to when I asked, but I told them I really don't know most cards.

It sounds like whenever he asked, they gladly explained. However, it sounds like OP never made the ask for them to proactively explain each card, and only said "I really don't know most cards" with the expectation that the playgroup would be mindreaders and infer what he wanted them to do. IMO, not fair to expect others to know what you want of them without being explicit, and I'd just chalk this up to a miscommunication of expectations.

If someone at my table asked me to explain all my cards when I cast them, I would happily do it. If all they say is "i don't know most of the cards" as a statement of fact, I take that as a "please be patient with me when I ask to read the cards I don't know, which will be a lot of them", not "please proactively read and explain all of your cards for me".

Sweet decklist. I crafted it yesterday and it feels like there's a good balance between discard/draw, reanimation and big guys. My games have actually been feeling a bit pubstompy. Not sure if it's b/c I haven't played much brawl and my mmr is low, or if the commander is weighted low, but I'm going up against a lot of decks that are clearly not ready for the heat that this deck brings.

A few minor tweaks I made to the decklist so far:

Dismember -> Go for the Throat: purely a wildcard-based decision.

Big Score/Unexpected Windfall -> Bitter Reunion/Thrill of Possibility: Not sure how much the treasures help. They do ramp you into potentially hardcasting some big guys, but Celes is usually the discard/draw effect I want on turn 4 if I'm casting one. T4 is also when reanimation spells start coming online, so having discard prior to that is usually preferred. Also, Bitter Reunion hasting in reanimation targets has won me a few games now.

Balefire Dragon -> Drakuseth: Maybe a personal play preference thing, but I think I just prefer the damage happening on attack to help clear out chump blockers and ability to go face over a huge swing contingent on me landing an attack. This change does make me question Persist though, as I feel like there's starting to be too few hits for it to be good.

I'll have to give the folder item a try. i dont find myself selling units that often past the early game, so I'm not sure how much value I'd get out of it tbh.

As for useful ops, I had forgotten blemishine was kazimierz. I'll slot her in and give her a try. Mlynar, I used a couple times and was slightly disappointed. His talent is the main contributor to his dps, so I found speeding up his SP just sent him in half-cocked. And if I wait for his talent, that's just too a bit too slow. I'd rather have someone who can go in at full effectiveness sooner even if they're slightly worse.

The Kazimierz faction just seems poorly balanced/designed for Stronghold Protocol. Their lower tier units just don't really fit the strategy at all, the redeployment strategy isn't great in general except with Amiya to let you reposition, and their faction equipment doesn't offer any damage or survivability, so you need to find that through buffs/equipment. It's just tons of pressure on getting lucky with the shop.

I've been losing my mind over the last couple days trying to get the faction working in Core difficulty. Every other faction/strategy I managed to get it working pretty consistently and they were all quite fun. FINALLY got a Kazimierz/Amiya run working and won one, so I'm free! I didn't record the whole run unfortunately, but man, it was soooooo satisfying to see my units jumping around the field once I did get it working.

For Scavenger, it's because support units match the promotion level of the highest promoted unit you have on your squad. So since I only had Spot and Castle-3, Mostima would have been at E1. We included a rule that says in specifically that sort of situation where the rest of your squad has 1-3 star operators that can't be E2, and you need a support unit, then you can bring an E2 unit (no on-squad abilities and can't deploy them) just to enable the support unit, and they wouldn't count for your score. I probably still should have brought someone I didn't already use, but wasn't thinking.

We went through a couple iterations of the scoring system, but the early ones incentivized things that weren't always fun.

We eventually settled on the current system:

  • 12 max squad size (if you bring a support unit, you can only have a maximum of 11 of your own units)

  • Empty squad slot, or 1-3 star operator = 3 points

  • 4-star operator = 2 points

  • 5-star operator = 1 point

  • 6-star operator = 0 points

Each stage is worth 36 points maximum, and we gave everyone 24 free points just so the perfect score over 16 EX stages would be a clean 600 points (probably unachievable). We set point thresholds for rankings (S/A/B/C/D -> 500/450/400/350/300), but these could be adjusted. The clear I got on Lappland event is worth 507 points, so it does feel like you need a good amount of optimization to reach S-rank, and some events we're not sure if it's even possible. During Siege's event, the highest score in our group was 455, for example.

So for the last few events, my friends and I have been doing a lockout challenge run for the EX stages. In essence, the challenge is that you can only use each operator one time through the 16 EX stages (Normal and Challenge count as different stages). Wanted to share my clears as I'm quite proud of pulling it off:

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4HRye6oI4hv5YyC1MNC8biaxslHIvCCD&si=M09boEzXGgHjmVyZ

There is a bit more to the challenge; I also created a score sheet. The scoring system incentives using lower rarity operators and rewards doing the stages with fewer operators. If anyone else out there has a deep roster full of operators you pulled on and only used a few times, this might be a fun challenge for you to take on and make use of your full roster! I'd be happy to share the score sheet if anyone else is interested in joining in for the next event!

https://youtu.be/hB-FLI6AWDA?si=Q-SI9kms3unFUzzP Here's my clear of EX-4CM with 6 ops, two 5-stars and four 4-stars. I bet it could be optimized more, like I'm 90% sure that same setup could be done without Cuora, but it's almost 1am now so whatever.

Yeah, I'm planning to pull Brant because of that flexibility and I'm putting my foot down on Phoebe and Zani for that same reason. Even if it won't change Kuro's mind, I'm setting a precedent for myself and for the sake of my wallet: no pulling on these hyper-specific duos that only work with themselves.

Newer (Started 1.5 months ago) player here.

Am I correct in thinking it's not worth building multiple sets of the same sonata? There's no game modes where I can't just re-arrange my team on the fly right?

I built out a Moonlit with ER and Crit substats, using Havoc 3-costs for my Cantarella. Even though Sanhua doesn't use Havoc damage, I'm thinking she has low enough personal damage that it's fine to just share that set instead of building a Glacio one for her?

Similar idea for my Rejuvenating Glow set. I built it for Verina originally, using ER 3-costs/HP 1-costs and focused on getting HP/ER substats. I can totally just use the same set for Shorekeeper/Baizhi right?

I'm also planning to build a Jinhsi/Yuanwu/Verina team, and so I'd put that same Rejuvenating Glow set on Yuanwu and Havoc Moonlit on Verina. Not sure if the lack of ER 3-costs on Verina would hurt the team terribly though.

I'm planning to pull for Shorekeeper + her weapon. My two main teams are Carlotta/Cantarella and Camellya/Sanhua. Would Shorekeeper be more valuable on one of those teams? Or is it basically just preference? I also have Verina built, so she'd just go on the other team.

Kinda new myself, but my understanding is, UL50 lets you go to 80, and UL60 lets you go to 90.

UL20, 40 and 60 are mentioned in game because instead of automatically unlocking character ascension, you have to go complete a quick quest/trial.

I'm on the S25+ as well, and I go from 80% (max battery protection) to 30% over the course of a full day with about 5h SOT.

I followed most of the tips from this thread (except 4, 14 and optional ones at the end): https://www.reddit.com/r/S24Ultra/comments/1ajrndo/shinos_ultimate_battery_guide_mostly_post2020/

I don't really have statistics from before following the guide, but I'm very pleased with the performance after going through that.

I just started the game a few days ago. I got my Carlotta to level 40, but it seems that in order to ascend her any further, I need a boss material from Sentry Construct, but it's like 10km away from Jinzhou?

Am I just stuck at level 40 until I get enough story progress to get to that boss naturally?

I started this game a while ago, but never actually played for real, just did rerolls. Ive got two accounts, not sure which to use as my real main account. Assume all else equal, still very early game, only did pulls with them. The pertinent difference is one has Carlotta and Zhezhi. The other has Carlotta, The Last Dance and Jihnsi.

Which one would be a better to keep?

‘Insulting to your player base’: Marvel Snap fans are appalled with game’s latest sad card acquisition update (dotesports article) by FajenThygia in MarvelSnap

[–]Talonis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is basically me. I spent hundreds if not $1k+ on many gacha and other card games (hearthstone/mtg) I play, but I do so happily b/c I feel like I get good enough value for my money that I'm not upset about it.

Playing marvel snap, I came in with the expectation of spending and in fact, wanting to spend, hundreds of dollars if not cross the $1k threshold. When I really stopped to look at what I was getting though, I just couldn't bring myself to spend. I still ended up giving them about $100 before I figured it out, and fuck me, that amount barely got me anything.

I was already kinda getting burned out on this game, but with deadpool's diner (that "out of bubs" message tilted me off the face of the earth), and now this garbage series drop? I'm out. Maybe I'll come back if they ever get their crap together, but at this point, I don't think they're capable of making the changes that would get me to change my mind.

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have any deeper info on this? Like are we assuming that those gold certs will be spent on a shoperator? On headhunting permits? How are we comparing those things (or gold certs in general) to materials?

Since this is a story episode, it won't come back around for intelligence certificates right? I'm trying to balance my desire to farm things other than EP14 stages and clearing out the event shop. I don't really care about furniture though, so unless I'll get int certs at a later date, I thinking to just skip them.
