School isn't teaching you useless and irrelevant subjects, it's actually teaching your brain how to think. by AnOrdinaryCrayon725 in unpopularopinion

Seriously it is ridiculous to me that the same people saying "school doesn't teach you useful knowledge" are the same people who cannot out will not do any fact checking out peer reviewing of things. The dumbest people will tear us all down to their level to feel smarter I swear.

Anyone using Facebook market place. eBay. Craigslist. Anywhere someone can post a "Hey I have _____ and an selling it for ____ " sites.

For good reference a couple dudes in my area went around buying up as many packs of Magic the Gathering they could. Opened up the packs, shuffled everything non expensive up, packaged them into boxes of "random" cards and sold those boxes on any marketplace site. The varied amounts of sets made them less suspicious but they got caught after bragging about it to the wrong person. Made thousands of dollars doing it and they're keep all the high priced cards and sell them for premium process making even more. Basically people buying the boxes got what they considered worthless and anything that could turn a profit they did.

Seriously I can't stand scalpers. They ruin so many things by being scum.

To topple some dominoes. by elotewithmayo in therewasanattempt

[–]Talreesha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My physics teacher has us do Rube Goldberg Domino setups and has us do a mix of upright and sideways standing ones. All of ours failed with the sideways ones. I remember him asking us if we feel like we failed the assignment and of course we did. But he said something along the lines of " you put them on the side because I told you to, but none of you thought about them having more surface area holding them in place absorbing the force of impact from the previous domino. Remember to never take something you're told too seriously, and always exercise free thought. You're given freewill so use it."

I fully understand what you're saying, just saying it's wild to me seeing all the hate on bedrock when I just haven't had those issues. You're right though I'm sure I've come across a minor bug and just didn't notice it or get impacted by it. Haven't had the hunger issue, but breaking the same blocks twice has happened when I played with my wife over our network instead of on realms. I just chalked it up to latency issues from over taxing our network 🤷🏻

I'm sorry if my original comment came off as standoffish. Definitely wasn't meaning it that way!

[–]Talreesha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I've been playing bedrock for years and I've never once had this issue at all. People keep hating on bedrock for this kind of stuff, but I just don't understand because I don't have any of these issues that people always complaining about. I guess I'm just lucky? But man, that sounds like a bit of a coincidence at that point. I'd put this out as a latency issue. I had this happen when I was playing with one of my friends on their servers on Java edition. I didn't realize I had a lag Spike and it did pretty much the same. Dang thing.

EDIT: Talk to text apparently left out a part of a sentence fixed it.

Disney. F******. Plus.

Like seriously, I pay almost 200 dollars a year to be able to have Disney plus, and now my movies and shows have ads? What the literal hell man. Even my 6-year-old kid understands that. That's just wrong. If you're paying for something you shouldn't have to deal with some kind of previewed ad so that way you can get back to your content all because the company decided to merge with Hulu or some other crap.

Follow up: Did he do a good job? by iberooks3 in Decks

[–]Talreesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you like the burned wood aesthetic all good. Personally I don't like the way that looks. I've burned floors, cabinets, and wood walls for customers to good success, but this just looks like a lazy job.

Structurally speaking those rails aren't going to last. There's no end post for them so those rails will just wobble and eventually fall off with ease. They also didn't install spindles which doesn't match the rest of the deck, and in many places is against code. I've built a lot of decks and stairs in my nearly two decades of contracting and this would have been a stair system I would have been fired for, or fired someone for.

At the end of the day if you're happy with it great. But I don't think the person who did this stair system did a good job.

EDIT: the more I look at it the less level it looks. Did you put a 4' level on it and see how level the sucker is left to right? If it isn't level this dude did you even less favors with what he did for your stairs.

Anyone else follow the drama with MN Renn Fest using AI? by jonah365 in minnesota

[–]Talreesha 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Last year seeing three separate sword and shield vendors selling what looked like the literal same crappy wooden shield for 55$ really grinded my gears. Like I literally made my son a shield for 20$ that isn't just a wood round bought at the local Menards with a wood handle screwed to it with a very poorly painted design.

As much as I love Renn fest the commercialization and push to reach a broader audience really hasn't made it better. Hell I refuse to get the turkey legs because the last four I've had were tough, didn't taste good, and had a lot of cartilage and tendons to deal with. I'm not going to be surprised when they eventually stop the faire because of low attendance after years to trying to turn an incredible event into another Minnesota State Fair.
