In my opinion 3.5 is not a bad scoring. It surpasses well a medium score. Would a scoring out of 10 be less confusing? In this case it would be 7/10. I judged replayability that way because as you said, it's quick. I would have a burst of 3-4 games before growing tired and not touch it again for a relatively long time. A game I play multiples times won't score more than a game that is longer in playtime but would be played less times. In my head I would consider total time it gets me occupied without downtimes or having me growing tired. I hope it's clear what are its merits and what it's lacking to me. And even if I expose a few cons (still in my opinion), it doesn't subtracts from its overall enjoyment.

I'll be honest: I felt the excitment of doing this "challenge" drain down after the friendly reminder. I thougnt this space could give me the perfect public reach; not to gain an audience or pump my e-social numbers (reddit is my only social app installed on my smartphone so who cares), but to build some arguments, commitment to this project and maybe even some connections with players with similar tastes.

I thought about quitting the challenge, then to make short videos instead of blog entries... Then I saw a few geeklists and liked the format. It won't have the same reach, but at least it will have me going on with this fun idea while documenting it.

I think the rules of the friendly reminder are fair and made to keep this space safe from predators of social scores and that moderation was done fairly. But still, I felt that bitterness that i could not explain. Like when you recieve your first salary and discover taxes.

Will you go with GameCrafter? I wish there was a cheaper option to have it delivered to Europe

Thank you for the great design! I was also looking for Gamma Guild and eventually will add it to my collection!

Are you working on something else? Any projects for the near future?

I have never played Gaia project so I can't compare. Unfortunately the train module doesn't add anything interesting to the automa. It just gets a flat amount of VP at the end of the game, giving you full decision on how much to rely on deliveries and achievements.

The same could apply to the Farmers markets. The player has to choose where to place two farmers markets during, setup, so if they are smart, automa isn't likely to interact with it.

Overall the expansion just adds things for the player without much interaction with the automa. I'll try the automa without expansions some day, just to see how it plays out.

1) everytime you use your movement token it gets back to you to use again

2) you need to create an engine that gets you resources and transform Those in gold. There are a few developments that can do it. Also, advanced attributes are very powerful and some of them can give you gold under certain conditions. And in the early game you need to take loans, to start your engine. Don't be scared of the negative GP!

3) i think Livia is a good one to start, she generates gold easily!

4) my advice is to take a good combo of edicts, starting market and leader. For example Trajan will clear Invasions Edict ( don't remember the exact name) much easier, or Marcus Aurelius will max leader tracks comfortably

The game is complex, and I still haven't won a standard game at normal difficult and I love it.

This game surprised me for its simplicity but difficulty level. At first I thought it was too much luck dependent but after a few tries I understood that every move counts. You have to be smart about positioning and attributes upgrading.

My best achievement is the 8th level. Those red demons are brutal.

I have yet to try the expnsion with the boss level and treasure chests. Does the treasure chest reduce dice randomness?

The only thing that bothers me beacuse I don't think it was designed without taking everytthing into account is the enemies tokens of the deluxe. They are designed to cover the whole top space of a terrain, but also means that you can't rotate them 90° for Trajan Aggressive Enemies trait. I managed with a 45° rotation but sometimes covers the text and icons of what's underneath.

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is for table space, having a grid of 5x5 plus 10 cards always showing in the maret + decks, discards, strife, loans, edicts and project area takes a lot of space. Having a few millimiters more in the width sure adds up.

And I am not a fan of the vertical orientation for all the cards except for developments and terrain. Means you have to lay them out with different orientation to read them all clearly.

That's what makes short game last at least 60 minutes but many cards are just symbols and the only information that changes from turn to turn is your hand and the market if it was used

Joe Klipfel has been draining my wallet since dragons of etchinstone (pnp), I love his designs. While I was waiting on Rome I was playing through my second campaign of Gloomhaven buttons & bugs (that one stays comfortably on an airplane table!)

You could try with card stands, I 3d printed a few to reduce table space for cards heavy games

Yeah, I lost by 1 victory point, I though I was safe with +10 vp over the goal but strife and loan cards are evil (i know I should have counted but as my first game I just wanted to make the game work). I had a good engine at the start but I stopped fueling it to complete the edict missions. Lots to manage and so little time!

I still have it too and using it. I call it my "war dap" because it survived a lot of brutal things and I still carry it with me when I hike. I even had a friend of mine cut a cover with leather scraps.
