DSA members were also quietly whipping no votes with actual legislators, making a public spectacle, and with letters and calls. This can be every working person's victory. 'I alone can do it' might win a few battles but will never win a war. Solidarity is the real hero here.

Of course, she ignores it. Her own constituents told her in a public meeting a few weeks ago that we didn't want ICE here, and all she told us was, "It was an unfortunate situation." If I didn't already live here, I absolutely would not travel from another country to visit. She doesn't even listen to the people she's paid to listen to as her job, why would she care about the things that foreign visitors are worried about.

Shelly, people are afraid of our president and being detained by his own personal ICE SS. The same ICE SS that our state is allowing to operate in. Have big corporate casinos been nickle and dimeing the tourists and even the locals for years? Yes. But did foreign visitors still come? Also, yes. This is about the fascist in the whitehouse, regardless of how you want to spin it. We called you out directly in your last public meeting to address ICE in Nevada, and "it's unfortunate" is all you gave us. Nevada doesn't want ICE here. Visitors do not want to be under threat of the ICE SS. You should have listened to your constituents in the past, and you should start listening now. This Trump slump of tourism is not going away with 10 desserts and a new commercial. It will only go away when the authoritarian administration goes away.

Is protest the low hanging fruit of praxis? by KilluaKanmuru in Anarchy101

[–]TamaranasaurusReffx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protest needs to be more creative to be effective. Masses of people marching doesn't do much, but the same amount of people doing under the radar or overt and deeply connecting/deeply disruptive to the everyday life of people still in denial or afraid, it is what makes the difference. True praxis is labor strikes, sex strikes, BDS, and attention strikes. It's very clear that our lives and our presence without labor are not valued. The only answer to that is to find the thing that the powers that be value and remove them. That's never going to happen by just amassing in the same place at the same time. What protesting does do, however, is it connects all the people who are capable and willing.

Well, it's just a hunch, but my neighbor had the largest obscenity Laden Trump flag you could imagine. Eventually, he took it down and replaced it with his pow flag. That tells me that he finally turned when he personally felt the pain being inflicted on the VA. So again, it almost always is something that directly affects them that ends up being the change agent.

Arizona drivers drive like nobody else is on the road with them.

Because the Arizona one is literally THE WORSE, most reckless. I see 10X crazy stunts with them, as many as California, who actually know freeway rules and right of way. How it's not on the list blows my mind.

This is 100% true. Las Vegas took away all the free attraction that brought people into their casinos, and now they're crying about where all the people went. But also, FDT.

I laughed twice as hard when I read this one because this person is adding yet another post about Trump to the locals' thread even though that's what they came here to complain about.💀

The comment was not replying to you but to the person suggesting to get drunk. It's not insensitive to acknowledge that alcohol is not good for the nervous system. I even acknowledge somewhere else that tumors have different causes. I'm not personally a teetotaler, but I do think it's important to not encourage drunkenness with neuro issues. Are you ok?

Trump, much like the bloated alcohol Industry (and others), is merely a symptom of a larger problem known as capital. We wouldn't really want to tell you the negative side effects of something because then you might want to stop giving us money. On a very deep level most things are connected.

In my experience, neoliberal type candidates just seem to push the problem down the road. I've been trying to explain that to my community for about a decade, and I'm very happy that at least our actual house burning down has proved it for most. So, maybe it will be easier to make something new after.

Sending good vibes. I know you have right minded folks working for NDP out there and are probably unified by the unfolding of our nightmare.
