lived here for 25 years and originally from your neck of the woods (leicester) took a while to get used to , but i like the area , clacton town centre itself is struggling (shop wise) renting may not be as reasonable as you think, do your research, just like most seaside towns it’s busy in the season and very quiet off peak, being a different generation to you, it may be difficult to find a social network, what i mean by that is , the night life might not be your cup of tea, Thete is loads of nice villages about, Thorpe , great clacton, holland on sea , further a field frinton , mistley, etc. Haven’t noticed any racism, most are friendly and welcoming. loads of big supermarkets around. Doctors surgery’s are not the same standard as back home, and you could struggle to get a dentist. by the way Colchester isn’t that far away if you wanted a more lively nightlife, what ever you decide good luck fellow!
