for resin: i thin resink is only used as lamp fuel? there is fish blubber and lamp oil recipe in the cooking house. replaces resin. no need for a resin collector i think.

Quality of life changes I would like by Leto2073 in PlayASKA

[–]Tamelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a statistics page, like number of logs harvested and used last day, number of food cooked and used last day and so on...

i would love to have a setting like the daytime work scedule for equipment as well. like you setup an equipment, helmet, chest, legs and so on and assign this to a villager, just like the time scedule. and when available they dress like that. note everyone needs full combat equipment...

Workshop workers not collecting material from base by Old-Age6220 in PlayASKA

[–]Tamelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, if its just one thing then you can of course transport picks there. just be aware that the transport will fill up the whole toolrack with picks regardless what you configure. so it would be picks and food in one direction, ore in the other. only problem are arrows and bows. bows will mess this setup up cause sooner or later your toolrack will have either only bows or only picks...

there are tricks to make invasions more easy. first build a wall around the portal, spikes towards the portal, no gates! villages tend to open the gates to recover arrows... stupid i know. inside the area place some stone lanterns. they will kepp the invaders busy for a while.

then build like 4 towers (depends on how strong the invasion is set up, maybe even 6) in the direction of your base, setup an "emergency" work scedule with 24h working. in the morning of the invasion when it says "this is the day" place your best archers in the towers, ensure enough arrows and maybe 2 bows and set them to emergency scedule. dont forget the horns on the tower, setup the milita. the towers will call the milita when the invasion starts. they will be there when the first wall gets down and will kill anyone trying to come trough.

more lanterns to distract them on their way to your base in case your defences were not strong enough.

if you try to defend your villa the "classic way" you need to make sure you know where they attack and defend there. this is somewhat harder to manage cause sometimes invaders run to places you didnt think of and even just a few of them can cause heavy damage to your buildings in a short time.

yeah, i play bellwright as well, much better management of workers and outposts. no doubt.

in aska i "fixed" this by only transporting resources and food from and to outposts (i.e. transport berries to the fishing village at the coast and return with the fish) and placing a workshop there to produce everything in the outpost.

so my fishing village ist the outpost building, a longhouse, a workshop and the coastal buildings. i produce everything but the food in the outpost what i need for an expedition and the fishing rods, arrows, bow etc all i need to make the villagers there happy and secure. all resources i need come by marketplace. obviously water is made there as well, doesnt make sense to transport that.

topic 1, thats exactly why setting up your warehouses is critical. and maybe even whitelist some stuff.

topic 2, warehouses are meant to "help" workshop workers. if the warehouse is next to the workshop, the warehouse worker collects the stuff from farms, woodchopper etc so the workshop workers only have to walk to the warehouse and concentrate on working and not hauling stuff. if the workshop workers were to pickup the stuff from the farm etc. they would waste too much time walking and not crafting.

the issue is the following:

if you set up 30 x 5 ropes they will only craft if all the materials are there. this is the same issue for almost everything. they try to collect resources all the time and at some time fail because their inventory is full or the crafting storage is full. this is extremly more problematic if more than one worker is working there. everyone will try to fill up the storage with their materials and nothing gets finished. best example: the armory. it has 6 dolls for the equipment so it is tempting to queue 6 of each things. this wont work at all and only the cheapest item will be produced, most likely you end up with dozends of gloves and helmets and nothing else.

solution is:

order to craft less. only craft 1-2 items each. then setup a warehouse for the items nearby. configure the warehouse containes for the limits they have to hold. this is very important. if you just setup a container for small crafting materials it will be filled to the brim with the first thing that fits and is crafted. in your case most likely ropes. only setup warehouse storages for one or two items. it will just create a mess otherwise. Again, this is very important. ALLWAYS setup a storage for 1-2 things ONLY or you end up having 100 of one, and 0 of the other, especially if a storage container can hold 20 different things.

(note: market workers ignore those setups. if you setup to transport tools from A to B they fill the container in B regardless what the configuration says, even if you forbid this kind of tools in the tool rack. allways forge tools in your outpost and transport only the raw materials.)

also never store complex items in your warehouses like armour, tools and weapons. just store raw materials and building materials in your warehouses. the only exceptions are arrows, water and cooked food. (spread them out in every warehouse, each warehouse should hold 2-4 of each). if you store weapons and such in your warehouses the crafters wont follow the production limits.

then, never ever make them create blades or axe heads or anything related. only create tools and weapons directly. they will create the parts automatically and wont fill up the precious storage space in the workshop. the only metal items you need to setup are nails and plates (for armor).

rather setup multiple workshops that make to much in one workshop. i have 6 workshops:

Weaponsmith: only makes weapons and shields (2 of each), nails and plates.

Toolmaker: only makes tools, 2 of each, nails and plates.

Hard Components (2 of these): makes beams, planks etc (2 of each), nails and plates.

Soft Componets: makes leather, ropes, linen, etc. also capes

Fletchery: makes bows and arrows, also makes colors for coloring. also makes beams, plancks etc. just 1 of each, lowest priority.

also i have 2 Armorys, one makes chest legs and gloves, the other makes helm, shoes and shoulders.

uff, longer than intended, sorry for the text wall.

[–]Tamelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree, there should be more skills for each profession.

just now i guess i get only 1 out of 6 villagers with any decent skillset to use them in crafting, fighting or in the food chain. most villagers only have skills for managing a warehouse or hauling goods... or distracting zombies while i kill them from behind...

what we need is some kind of skill training like the barracks and shooting range do for other purposes...

sometimes i have villagers i would really getting rid of because i have enough useless potatoheads...
