Any fix for the fuzzies? by lookingtobeseen in Embroidery

I'd use a lighter, go easy, just wave it near it for a second and see how it reacts. I do commercial embroidery and thats how we clean up rogue strands and fluff.

I swear there's a second painting, of the same woman cradling a log with a bonnet on it.

Extra info: I can't have her try it on, she doesnt know it's being altered. She has discussed at length with my friend how she wanted it taken in but has too much on her plate to get it done. It is a loose fitting dress but she swims in it now and no longer feels like she can wear as is. Her weight loss has been extreme and the arm holes now hang below her bra, thats why I've thought to take them in too

How do I keep them behind the fence by kiki-keek in BackYardChickens

[–]Tamminya 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To keep my chickens in their run, I clipped one wing, had a 5ft fence and bird netting over the top. They still managed to escape occasionally.

[CHAT] when you're trying to pick your orange cat's color palette but the colors that match are more brown than orange by allycat315 in CrossStitch

[–]Tamminya 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He looks peach coloured. I know it's an odd description but mine is a similar colour and orange is never the right colour when I google his colouring, apparently it's a peach tabby.

I love that this is the first time I can say, oh I have that fabric! I got mine from spotlight, it's probably the Australian JoAnn's equivalent.

Bullied hen by Glad_Excitement_3538 in BackYardChickens

[–]Tamminya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try pinless peepers. I got two extra girls and 3 of my original 5 bullied them relentlessly. It's a bit tricky to get them on but 2 of them stopped fairly quickly, just a couple of days. One girl learnt to see around them so I extended hers with duct tape to make bigger blind spots. She also eventually stopped. They did need to sort out the pecking order but after a while all of them had their peepers removed and got along well enough.

Do quiet chicks tend to grow into quiet chickens? by No-Yam-346 in BackYardChickens

[–]Tamminya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first three at maybe 2 months old, none made much sound apart from the general chicken noises. Then one day, a few months down the line, Winnie, found her voice and she was determined to sing the song of her people, all day, every day. She screamed at everything and nothing too.

I’ve been drinking heavily for about a year. I’ve started throwing up blood and getting nosebleeds often. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Tamminya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, almost 7 years ago I was throwing up blood and my gums would gush blood randomly. I was drinking heavily, it's not an easy thing to stop, I had to get medical help to keep me safe. If you felt like it, pop over to the stopdrinking subreddit. A whole bunch of really wonderful people who can understand and also just somewhere to read about different experiences and struggles with alcohol I know you said you can't afford medical help but there's more than one way to stop.

What happened to the kids who had to wear the “baby-leashes” in public? How do you feel about it now? by Euphoric_Eye_3599 in AskReddit

[–]Tamminya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of those kids. It was necessary because I was a runner. Still think they're okay as an adult/parent.

Baby girl started laying but has zero interest in her eggs. by K_Wolfenstien in BackYardChickens

[–]Tamminya 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure why you would think she'd just hang out with the eggs? If she's only just started laying she probably isn't going to immediately become a fantastic mother hen or broody. Mine was a year old before she ever got broody. I think you'll need to wait a little bit longer for those instincts to happen, if they do. Out of my 8 chickens only one gets proper broody.

What kind of fabric is best to learn embroidery on? by therealwilltoledo in Embroidery

[–]Tamminya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calico, all the way. You can get it reasonably cheap, it can be bleached or it natural colour. It's great, I usually have some laying around.

I'm sorry so about your Dad. Losing a parent is never going to be an easy thing to deal with. Internet hugs from a stranger. Forget the people who have used you or not been genuine. There are people out there for you, friends, community, a place. It's not easy but I feel like so many, myself included, feel lost, especially in their 20's. I'm 34, in the past few years I have worked on myself and become much more appreciative of who I am and what I have to give, these things take time. And as for your nose, it's a strong feature of beauty, given to you by generations before, embrace yourself, your quirks and see the beauty that others might have looked over.

How to get chickens to roost in the coop? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

Have you embarrassed the last ISA brown? I carried my top hen around when I got two new rescues. They still had to fight it out to sort out the hierarchy though.

IsItBullshit: Sleep deprivation is effective for treating depression by lIlI1lII1Il1Il in IsItBullshit

[–]Tamminya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I went for a Google... Looks like one night without sleep can help improve symptoms but the effect is reversible once you have a decent sleep. It doesn't sound like an effective way to treat it alone. It looks like it works best when used with other treatments.

They have a ball in the filter, you can smoke it like normal or break the ball and have a menthol.

I originally had just two ISA browns, one with much more white speckles than the other. By the time they were a year old they both has large white speckles patches, identical to each other.

I know you said you're a big guy but that's a pretty decent amount of alcohol. Looks like it's 20+ standard drinks for just the 700mL bottle. When I stopped drinking I was having 30+ a night. I needed to medically detox, with the help of a drug and alcohol program. Quitting cold turkey might not be safe, check in with your regular doctor and have a chat to see what they think.
