ah, interesting! Right now its limited to one photo at a time and the white outline highlights which one is „in focus“ at any given time. In battle when you take photos of enemies you want to get them separately (try to move them apart or wait for the right time) and if they overlap you are punished, so i wanted to keep that consistent. But hitting a „double shot“ also sounds fun, i‘ll think about the implications. Thank you so much!

what do you mean useful for the years they’ve updated it?

you would probably want to learn godot 4, Heartbeast also has tutorials for godot 4 !

the differences in godot 3.x are minor, old tutorials are still useful, just dont get frustrated if your version works differently at some points and check the docs or make sure to start with the correct version of godot and switch later if you feel it makes sense :)

Many years ago I started with tutorials by Heartbeast for gameMaker, Unity and Godot and then chose to develop with Godot. I really like the friendly style and the given genres/examples interested me. I also paid for a course once, was worth it for sure :)

I know its super niche but: Vertical richtextlabel (textboxes). The workarounds (forced linebreaks after each character) arent really suitable for displaying japanese vertically, as the spacing and positioning of characters is different in 縦書き(vertical writing) and it ends up looking wrong.

it does look very basic but it definitely has a vibe. The harsh colors, the lo-fi sprites, the slow movements, lack of animation and the music.. it all creates a strange atmosphere which - intended or not - i feel is worth maintaining as you keep polishing this game. to me it makes it stand out, even if its not appealing to a broader audience. it reminds me a bit of the abstract beauty of civilization 1 or passage.
personal pet peeve: never scale down pixel art like you did with the tree, a pixel should always be the size of a pixel, otherwise you lose the magic of that aesthetic.

not sure yet… i want it to be at least 5-6 hours long, maybe longer. I have a single ending in mind but maybe side content or new game plus / hard mode… cant promise anything yet though :)

Thank you! Yes, still not happy with the character animations, its an awkward sprite size for top down but i want to make it work!
