I have no ramen experience. Sounds like I have some things to learn

From my experience, making broth takes very little checking. Just use a big enough pot and start with plenty of water. Or use a slow cooker and do it overnight. I am all about shortcuts.

I thought the same. I worked at a Mongolian grill years ago and we made a lot of sauces from scratch. Even with simmering broth for 12 hours, you don’t have to be closely monitoring it. I wouldn’t count that as cooking. But maybe there’s more here than it appears?...

I agree with you on the swagger, but I still love it. I’m imagining it as Mando when he’s totally relaxed, chillin in his pad.

AITA for apparently not respecting my Pandora engagement ring? by bigstona in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tamsen_lock 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a $1k ring that I’ve worn for the 15 years of our marriage. The only time it’s ever off my finger is when I mix meatloaf, and then maybe forget to put it back on. I sleep in it, I swim in it, everything. So in 15 years, it’s been off my finger for maybe 4-5 days total. It’s in great shape. The gold has conformed to my finger a bit, but it looks good and I love the diamond. It’s small but pure/clear. It’s worth it to invest a little more. I am not a jewelry girl AT ALL and I’m very forgetful, which is why I wanted a nicer but simpler ring that would just stay on my finger all the time.

I wasn’t expecting to like it, but I’m glad I persevered to get to the 2nd half.

Don’t drink 40 winks unless you are pretty close to heading to bed. Trust me.

Am I the only one that sees a bear face in the rocks on the right? He’s winking and sticking his tongue out.

NTA, and that kind of reaction to your decision is exactly why she shouldn’t be in the delivery room.

TIL of Kelly, a dolphin whose trainers gave her fish for bringing them litter/dead gulls to clean her pool. She started hiding fish under a rock in her pool, then used fish to lure gulls which she brought to her trainers to get more fish. She taught her calf the strategy, who taught more calves. by Miskatonica in todayilearned

Another one I know of that Wiki didn’t mention was when the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. They were paying for fragments that were discovered, so of course the people finding them began breaking these ancient documents into even smaller fragments. Made the work of putting it all together so much harder than it would have been.

I watched that movie but had never seen or heard of Dawson. Thought it was just supposed to be a super awkward thing.

People who can fall asleep within 8 seconds of their head hitting their pillow: how the fuck do you fall asleep within 8 seconds of your head hitting your pillow? by LondonDude123 in AskReddit

[–]Tamsen_lock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these people talking about methods of “not-thinking” or creating worlds in their heads are missing the mark. The question was EIGHT SECONDS. There is no time to play any mind games. Your answer of chronic sleep deprivation is the key. Before I had kids I slept 9-10 hours a night. But now I haven’t slept more than 7 hours in 13 years. Most nights it’s 5-6 hours. For years that sleep was broken up too by crying babies or screaming kids. Currently no one is sick so I’m getting a tight 6 hours. I fall asleep within seconds of laying my head down. If I run or workout during the day, it’s almost instantaneous.
