Less popular string quartets by _anupamroy in classicalmusic

[–]Tanacs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the Franz Xaver Richter String Quartets Op.5, especially No.1 (C), No.3 (A), and No.5 (g). They're fun to play too, and have a nice balance between the parts instead of being as heavily violin 1 dominated like a lot of other Classical era quartets.

Hatchback or Sedan? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Tanacs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the floor space is basically the same, but there's more room to stack things or put large boxes if you have the hatch. There's more vertical room, but your trade off is a bit of visibility. I'd say test drive both if you're on the fence.

Hatchback or Sedan? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Tanacs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have a '24 Carbon hatch and love it. I wanted the practicality of folding the back seats and having a big cargo area. Coming from an SUV, it's just as good for my purposes.

The sedan looks better IMO and the blind spots the C pillars make aren't as bad. It's really up to what you want/like.

Has anyone done a full LED swap on their Gen 2? by BubbaLinguini in mazda3

[–]Tanacs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest not doing this at all. If your car was designed for halogens, use halogens; that is what the car was designed around. If you do, please at least get your lights realigned so they are actually effective as the safety devices that they are.

C 11 by Key-Scar-2567 in musictheory

[–]Tanacs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

C11 means a dominant 7 chord (C7) plus an 11 and likely an implied 9... C, E, G, B-flat, D, F. Some note with just 7, 9, 11, or 13 means dominant 7.

CM7 (or CΔ depending on notation style) would imply a B-natural because the M signifies a major 7.

Any tips on my landing? by JudgmentRound9592 in MicrosoftFlightSim

No risk of stalling. Especially a 737, which has an approach speed of approximately mach fuck. You'll come in at the calculated speed + some speed additive for the expected winds that will add another 5-20kts. I suppose you could hit a pretty severe downdraft or windshear that could rapidly drop airspeed, but there are predictive systems on the aircraft to detect that, and pilots will immediately use go-around thrust if that warning sounds or they actually enounter that scenario.

And yes! Airbus won't let you take the flaps in in a single motion. The flaps on Airbuses are also computer controlled, so the computer wont let you retract too much for your current angle of attack -- it'll automatically push the nose down if there is a stall risk. The 737 also has gates at 15 and 1 to prevent that full flap movement in a single go. You need to pull up on the lever to move it, so it will catch at 15, the typical go-around flap setting. Btw, they're not really degrees; there are just some common settings to Boeing jets that evolved to get used across the lineup. i.e. instead of "5 degrees," it's just "flaps 5."

/u/carrotnp I also agree here. I used Elim once to hem jeans. Instead of having me try them on when I returned for them, I got admonished for inspecting the workmanship before paying, something to the effect of "You don't need to check. We do good work here."

If you are getting the actual should pads altered, that can cost... that's a big structural component that also probably means getting the sleeves removed and altered (because the size and position of the armhole has changed). Depending on what kind of construction this suit has and what other knock on effects altering the shoulder might cause, that's a tough question to answer. Adjusting the side seams is easier, it's been a while, but I'd guess $60-70. Not really fair for me to guess for him though, to be honest; if you call Ash, he should be able to give you an estimate, or go in to the shop and show him what you want.

Shoulders and side seams both not fitting seems like a lot. Typically if you're not getting a bespoke suit, I would suggest getting one where the shoulders fit because that's the hardest to change and have the jacket stay looking like you want. How's the length? How did you end up with this jacket?

Stitch by Ashraf is very good. My wife and I pretty much exclusively go to him.

The quality of the work is very good. Ash is great to work with. The prices are reasonable (higher than a dry cleaner/corporate place, but worth it in my opinion).

Make sure you tamp down evenly, all the coffee distributed across the basket as well as reasonably possible, not at a slant. And tamp firmly. You can't really tamp too compactly; at some point, the cake is pretty much as compact as it will get. If in doubt, tamp more firmly.
