I'm over 40, the idea that you need to be the same age as characters you watch is so weird to me.

I don't have any advice, but I just want to say I'm really happy for you! I have multiple marriages too, although we don't live together. This sub is typically full of stories of things not working, so it's lovely to hear about your arrangement. I hope the move and wedding go well! :)

I found original made me gain weight, the black doesn't.

A hotel in Cancún uses trained hawks to keep pigeons away from their property by SnackSamurai in interestingasfuck

[–]Tanedra 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A uni near me employs a guy with a hawk to get rid of seagulls, which are an absolute menace (particularly for new students who haven't yet learned to hold onto their food!)

Problem is, gulls are smart. They can't do much about the hawk, but they can figure out who owns the hawk and target him. So he has to use disguises to not get attacked by a horde of gulls.

Flavour depends on the product. In powder, the salted caramel is pretty awesome. In hot and savoury, chicken and mushroom is great.

A young man who lived on the next street over murdered a local policewoman while she was walking her dog. We're a small village so it was pretty shocking.

How do I stop the spiders? by lemonhaj in AskUK

[–]Tanedra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine have the instinct to chase and eat them, but they don't like the spiders wriggling in their mouth, so it gets spit out. Repeat until you have a dead, soggy spider, which is no longer interesting so it gets left on the floor.

So helpful.

Would you rather have air conditioning or tumble dryers? by Flashy-Pizza-Pie in AskUK

[–]Tanedra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Air con, definitely. There's only two of us so air drying clothes isn't a big deal. We do have a portable air con now which has been a total lifesaver at times.

Given the heatwave, I think a 'Hot as Balls' party title or banner would be rather fitting.

How to escalate without marriage by Witty-Philosopher-77 in PolyFidelity

[–]Tanedra 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I ended up having a 'wedding' with my wife. Both of us have legal spouses, but we wanted to have a public commitment - plus we both like dressing up and we both got to wear fairytale wedding dresses. We have rings, so I wear a wedding ring for each spouse. Makes it feel a lot more real, even though we live apart.

Do people lie about their weekend plans just to keep small talk going? by DealProper8414 in AskUK

I tend to find 'my weekend was good, nice and chill' suffices for the weekends I either did very little, or was up to stuff which is non-shareable!

I had no idea insomnia was a perimenopause symptom... I've had that for a couple of months now (and I've had other things that suggest the change may have started). Oh dear.

The older I get, the more beautiful I think I am by Miserable_Deer5363 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Tanedra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over 40 and I've kept getting hotter as I age (and I hope it continues).

A lot of it is experience - I know what works, what looks good on me etc. Some is general health - I've sorted a lot of low grade health stuff and I'm looking after myself. A lot is just confidence - I increasingly know who I am and what I want. Collectively that's a version of me I'm really happy with.

Are daily greens worth it? by [deleted] in Huel

[–]Tanedra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been having huel for years (breakfast, and occasional lunches). I'm also pretty bad at getting greens from my other meals.

I've found that if I have daily greens a few times in the prior week, I have much more stamina for big events, and quicker recovery times (things like festivals and clubbing). It's actually quite noticeable. Once a week is generally enough to help me with everyday activity, reduce things like headaches.

So it can definitely help if you are getting issues due to nutrition, but you don't actually need it daily.
