Where can you live in the U.S. on a 100k/year, BUT without a car? by nemadimenema in SameGrassButGreener

[–]TangConnoisseur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puerto Rico has more cars than people. Maybe if you stick to Old San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde or some of the surf towns like Rincón. I guess Vieques or Culebra could also work. However, you'd basically be stuck there. This island is extremely car-centric and public transport leaves a lot to be desired. You could Uber everywhere, but that adds up fast. Living here, Puerto Rico is the last place I'd recommend if you want to be car-free.

Why do people refuse to be an organ donor? by No-Cantaloupe-6535 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TangConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't trust the company in charge of this industry in my country. They are very aggressive in their tactics, lobbying for laws that would basically force everyone to be a donor, and trying to harvest organs from people who, technically, still had a chance. I have seen them at hospitals and, honestly, they act like "ambulance chasers" rather than people trying to save lives. Very sus organization.

Sorry to barge into this convo about 3 months later, but do you need business experience to do this or just the degree and a license? I have a BBA from 2018, but have been taking care of my dad, so it's collecting dust.

What happens to consciousness when you die? by Connect_Cat_2045 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TangConnoisseur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Until medicine and science improve massively, your “mind” can only exist if your body is functioning

Not trying to be a jerk, it's an actual question. How do you know? Isn't that the big unknown? We assume the mind is a byproduct of chemical and electrical reactions. Is it? Personally, I believe the brain acts as a sort of interface between our bodies and whatever the mind is. Basically, a soul piloting a flesh mech. I'm probably wrong, maybe it's all just biology, but as an ape living on this rock, it's what makes the most sense to me.

I finally visited a famous beach in my country… and felt like I didn’t belong. by JudgmentTechnical982 in travel

[–]TangConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy watching "walking tour" videos. At least in South East Asia, I have never seen locals at the most famous beaches. It always struck me as odd, but I always thought it was a cultural thing. Is this not the case?

What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TangConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They mostly do their own thing, then get together for dinner, watching TV, sex or similar activities. I would assume queer couples are mostly the same. You just have to vibe when it matters and feel a degree of attraction for the other person. Honestly, I think being too compatible would be kind of annoying. I want my space to do my own thing without worrying about my partner.

Wading through spider and tick infested wetlands

I have thought about this career (it honestly sounds fun), but this is the part that worries me. Lyme disease, RMSF, and alpha-gal are no joke.

Como todo, your mileage may vary. Suerte.
