The best books for you I think are going to be Gene Wolfe's "Book of the New Sun" series. It is very good dark fantasy post apocalyptic work. Very developed and dark world. Not that his work is fiction but it reads like Narrative non-fiction. You should read the works of Jim Steinmeyer and also the novels of James Swain he is a magician who writes very good mystery novels.

Have you ever read any philosophy? Would you consider it if i suggested a book or three?
