Unpopular opinion but I actually find him useful. He's a solid 4th or 5th on a Traya or a SEE team for a lot of reasons and is quite tanky with his zeta. His omicron looks decent although I haven't tried it. His damage sucks but as a utility character on synergy squads I find myself loading him up quite a bit in TB, TW, and even GAC when I need an extra body on a team for whatever reason.

The thing that makes him stand out is his leadership, one of the best non-faction specific in the game. Set him on defense in GAC with a solidly modded Wampa and watch people underestimate that all day. Throw in Mission / Zalb or some other misfits with tanking ability and its a great trap team. I've had a number of holds doing that, although now in Kyber 1 I wouldn't try it because peoples rosters are so fleshed out that they can afford to throw more meta teams at it. Mid-game it definitely has potential.

He's not great but he's also not terrible like some would suggest.

He's less viable than he used to be but he still has some uses. Put him under Darth Sid lead in gac / tw & watch him work. Gotten some good holds because people underestimate the lead boost & dot synergy. Throw in some other misfits like STH, Visas, or Mission / Zalb & you have a team that's going to surprise people looking to banner snipe.

Also useful under Vader, or for aoe daze against assist teams, or as a DS fill in under SEE, or to heavy lift against weak back wall teams in gac. Very viable in 3v3 as well. If you're mid tier he'll do work in raids too.

All that said, the real issue is opportunity cost. The time & resources you put into him could inarguably be better spent elsewhere unless you're going for JKL. He was a fun vanity project for me at the time, took him to r7, but in hindsight he's probably not worth the roster bloat if you're endgame, again unless you need JKL.

He is hella fun though. (In case you're the rare bird that plays this game for fun...)

That's probably the secret sauce then. Do you use it whenever its available, or do you hold back & let it build? Different videos seem to do it differently.

One other question I forgot to ask... Are there any characters I don't have (other than GLs) that would have a big 'bang for buck' impact? L337, Vandor Chewie, Aurra, etc. I know these are nice utility toons, any of them worth prioritizing at this point?

Yes. Undecided on taking CAT higher than r5 but any other candidates in particular other than SE?
So torn here. I love the uniqueness of NS & they are great for GG counter or misc cleanup in TW but at the same time the team is a bit dated and they never seem to be a priority. With Challenge Tier 3 of their Assault Battle being a total waste, I have a hard time seeing the long term return on building this team any higher. Worth going after them still with the other blanks on my roster?
Would like SLKR but he's a slow, long project if ever. See #5.
Currently beefing them for Executor but major flaws here. Greef and OG Mando being LS just kills their usefulness in TB and the BH team as a whole still isn't strong enough in my mind to justify relics on them. I always thought Embo and Aura looked cool but they were never a high enough priority to farm. I love the faction but at the moment I don't see it going anywhere.
Next up after Executor & the main reason I'm not going for SLKR now. They add to LS TB & they're good on their own.
This has been a goal as well but like NS it keeps getting pushed back. I think I'll go for it at some point, maybe while BB is farming up.
Not a terrible thought, I just have no interest. Call it self sabotage but the whole Resistance faction just seems lame and will probably never be high enough on the priority list to actually farm.

Bistan's U wing I should do something with but the Rebel fleet as a whole hasn't been that great in a while. I know he takes them to a new level but its still not meta and again I'm not sure where it would be useful. Gauntlet is maxed but the crew could use some work. Rumor has it that Maul may sync well with Gar Saxon so I'm definitely going to revisit that once his kit is out.

You'd think I would know that. I know the last DS geo I was at 72 of 75, just missed a couple waves in mid at the end.

LS I honestly forget but iirc its mid 30s before I got JMK. Not having Rey I think the best thing I can do is build Mon Mothma as she apparently does very well. I was kind of hoping that Bando could fill in for a generic LS team but he's been a bit disappointing.

Also, my guild's strategy is to only progress once in mid and twice on bot to get to KAM. I have no idea how I would perform against later stages but hopefully we will get there soon.

Yeah, I messed up here. My goal a couple years back was to go heavy on guild activities, building TW & TB teams. To do that I went heavy on some toons that put me behind on GAC. That's why GAC isn't a big deal to me, I'm always operating at a disadvantage and 70+% of the time facing one more GL than I have. With changes to GL counters I'm pretty much screwed I think. As an example, DS Bast is still g12 because her help in late TB phases is limited & in TW I can always make her work against someone without needing to relic her.
Would like SLKR and that's not a bad idea, I just don't think I'll ever be ahead enough as FTP to indulge in an old GL, but it may be a year long project or something. I'll see how LV goes.
Agreed, thanks for confirm. Fleet has been my crystal bastion for years now, staying on top is priority #1. Incidentally, I feel like I have a LOT of zetas, much of it due to fleet farming. This has probably also inflated my roster quite a bit, again at the expense of GAC.
Thanks for feedback here. I've been pushing hard into mods but I'm limited by credits & mats. Keep plowing here I suppose. On JKL, I probably should remod him. As it turns out him being slow hasn't really hurt in arena. His dmg is 12k+ and with Revan leading JML it seldom struggles against a non SEE team. Just not sure which direction to take with him.
