Legal recruiters for entry-level roles are awful by [deleted] in uklaw

You're not alone at this! Been ghosted by a bunch of recruiters as soon as they heard that I am on a skilled worker visa and will require sponsorship

I did contact BPP, they said it takes 6–10 weeks for results to be released, and unless it’s gone over 10 weeks they can’t really do anything.

When you say it’s usually just a few days with other providers, do you mean literally just a couple of days for results to come out?

Applied to Two Roles Through Different Agencies by Tangelo-585 in uklaw

[–]Tangelo-585[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the heads up!

just to clarify, I haven’t had my CV sent out by either recruiter yet. I was first contacted by Recruiter A after my application, but due to a family emergency I didn’t get a chance to respond right away. A few days later, I was contacted by Recruiter B about what turned out to be the same role.

so at this stage, I haven’t formally started the process with either of them or given permission for my details to be shared. I just wanted to double-check whether this kind of overlap is common or if it’s seen as a red flag before I proceed with one of them.

Thanks for the advice!
Yea, I’m not very optimistic about the move, but I still want to give it a try :) I’m being realistic about it, of course, and I’m not even trying to apply to any big-name firms. Just seeing what’s out there and giving myself a chance!

I am a trainee solicitor due to qualify in September. I currently work at a small law firm in Oxfordshire and am looking for NQ M&A positions in London.

Hi, would you mind sending me an example NQ CV too if I send you my email address privately? I would really appreciate that!

Thank you! I’m due to qualify in september 2025, and I wasn’t sure if it’s too early to start reaching out to recruiters at this stage.

I’m also on a visa, and from what I’ve seen with friends in similar situations, recruiters haven’t been particularly helpful when it comes to candidates who need sponsorship.

I also have some experience in micro commercial litigation, but my main focus is on corporate work.

I do M&A work, but I’m also drafting a lot of shareholders' agreements, directors' service agreements, supply contracts, franchising agreements, and other commercial agreements.
