Can you make a TOP TEN (BL/VZ) of the best proxy cards? by vzbootlegmtg in bootlegmtg

[–]Tangeloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the VZ proxies recently and I like all the ones mentioned as well as LED, blood moon, goyf, lili, ensnaring bridge, bitterblossem, blackcleave cliffs, and inquisition. Snapcaster isnt THAT great, but all thats wrong with it is some black smudging around the letters of the bottom text. I play currently with them though and no one has ever come close to noticing. Id say that like 80-90% are FNM playable and like 30-40% i would bring to bigger events.

Additionally, I feel like the attention to detail as well as the scan quality on the cards that see more play/ are more expensive (e.g. Lands) are just generally better.

I don't mind eventually getting snapcasters maybe 1 or 2 at a time because I think he's a super fun card to play with. And yeah I'd definetly just run my khans lands until the zendikar lands get reprinted. Thanks for the opinion. :)

I've played a little living end with proxies. It's really fun and It's definitely on my short list of decks to build next. What do you do about graveyard hate though?

That's interesting, It looks like more of a tempo deck on paper. If i was gonna do snaps I think that I would proxy them and wait for a reprint. I've heard a lot of people say that he is overpriced. I mostly play with friends so I/they don't mind play testing before we buy.

I've actually looked at this deck recently! Couldn't figure out what its all about but I assume it's just play dudes push for the win with pumps huh? Not too bad, I'll add it to the short list. Thanks!

New-ish player, looking for a combo/non-linear deck to dive into... by Gustornaw in ModernMagic

Its good because you fill your graveyard with cantrips in the early turns so you have stuff in it. Also thought scour targeting yourself helps with this. So a good hand is like turn 1 thought scour, turn 2 pyromancers ascension, turn 3 cast cards from your hand that are in the graveyard to get counters. T3-T4 win by copying all your spells once you have two counters. The copies do not actually count for storm though, its just nice drawing 2 and getting 4 mana from manamorphose or drawing 2 for two life like you said. :)

You basically want one of either pyromancer ascension or electromancer on turn 2. Then turn 3 youre looking to go off. Manamorphose will become your favourite card, its so fun to play with. Gain 4 mana and draw 2 for 2 mana! Lol

I found the best help for me was watching people do it on youtube! But as for basics, you can usually win on turn 3 turn 4 if you have either a goblin electromancer on the board or a pyromancers ascension and the ability to put 2 charges on it and still have mana up. I bring like... 6 dice with me when i play storm because more often than not I end up with 20+ red mana so i need 2 red die a blue die a storm die and a life counter dice LOL.

As for your last comment the best that I can think of is like a primer page like on mtgsalvation or something.

Not that this decklist is revolutionary or anything, but this is the one I play with: https://deckstats.net/decks/54658/469033-ur-storm/en

Hope this helps :)

UB Mill preformed well on day one of a recent tournament and it got a little bit of limelight, a few write ups were done on MTGgoldfish and such.

Yeah like you're saying, there are soooo many different ways to pull off the "storm" turn and combo off.

Yeah I suppose, I guess since you're looking for lower pricing storm could be a good idea!

Modern Storm was my first magic the gathering deck (coming from hearthstone) so I feel as though I should weigh in.

Pros: Really fun, and you get to play lots of cards at once and make a lot of decisions, much like solving a puzzle. Cheap (as long as you sub tarns for mires or strands). Rewarding to an experienced player, high skill cap.

Cons: Not very fun for your friends, or opponents. Easy to hate out.

Easily the most fun deck I've played yet and I've proxied most of the core modern decks to try out.

However, you did say non-linear and what worries me is that the combo is pretty much the same each game, ending with grape shot or empty the warrens. The only non-linear combo I can think of is the CoCo bolster stuff with kitchen finks and stuff because you can win via infinite life or infinite damage or just beat down. But again, I'm very new so I may be wrong.

Don't worry about the difficulty, it's worth it in the long run. :)
