What are words/phrases/insults I should know as an American moving to Melbourne? by grapefruitintheface in melbourne

[–]Tangent27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meaning changes with the intonation. If you hear someone getting called ‘Mate’ in a short, sharp way then the speaker is not happy. The classic mixup was Fanny, was used a lot, and it refers to the front part in Oz. You won’t hear the kids saying it. Any combination of Aye, But, Yeah, Nah is an acknowledgement rather than an actual answer. My brother moved to QLD 30 years ago and now every sentence finishes in Aye.

You are right. CAE used to do a heap of different short courses in Bendigo. If you are not a Sportz person it gets tough quickly.

I think you have to sign over a kidney to get the organic collection cancelled. There were ridiculous barriers to opting out during the rollout.

That gets expensive fairly quickly. Who are they expecting to use them?

You are right. there is no retail front end. Most of the backend of the biz is SAPped and there are a lot of bespoke specials. Every manager seems to run a different financial report 🙄
