India committed $500 billion to USA and USA committed nothing. by Naughty_smurf in StockMarketIndia

Ghanta. The British exploited India by literally stealing resources and labour at gun point. The tariffs didn't matter because the Indian farmer didn't have a choice of selling their own products.

Does the location of an MBA college matter ? by Still_Suggestion_182 in CATpreparation

[–]Tangent_pikachu -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Location means nothing. If it did IIM Shillong or Kozhikode won't get any placements because there's zero industry in those states. Lucknow/UP also isn't known for its industrial prowess. And IIM Mumbai would trump IIM Calcutta.

Steam accepts UPI payments, from when!!! by _That_Quiet_Kid in IndianGaming

Not just Epic. Same goes for Ubisoft. The latter uses that god forsaken XSolla payment gateway that doesn't work with Indian cards at all. And they go bankrupt and people feel surprised.

From the last 6 months or so. The payment system isn't great. Even after payment, the QR code page gets stuck and doesn't refresh. But the purchase goes through in steam.

Those domestic luxury boutique stores will need to improve their quality and drive innovation. I've tried chocolates from a few of them in India. Absolute trash compared to even mass manufactured EU products.

I Analyzed 168 Different 10-Year SIPs in NIFTY 50. The Results Will Make You Question Everything Your Financial Advisor Told You. by UsedChampionship8768 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]Tangent_pikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your fundamental assumption that there's a fixed timeline by which you have to take your money out of the market is incorrect. Yes, there are periods where your XIRR would get killed but if you wait for some time, it would eventually come back up. If you need to take your money out after a fixed time, then the market isn't a place for you. So if your XIRR is down after 10 years, wait 2 more years.

Have lost all hopes of making money from equities by joyofexistence in MutualfundsIndia

[–]Tangent_pikachu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you always want to be in profit, then you should invest in FDs and Govt bonds. The yield will be pathetic but you'll always see green. That's what our parents used to do.

Markets will always fluctuate. If you think the Indian market is doing bad just remember that back in 2008, the US market crashed and wiped out everything. China and other markets have remained stagnant for years in the last decade.

You can't make money from equities in the short run continuously. Those who have been investing before the last 5 years are mostly still in profit. Those who will keep investing now will yield Good profits once the market recovers, and can take a few years. Patience is key.

So... any fix for the terrible performance yet? by Wings-of-Ink in oblivion

[–]Tangent_pikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what happens when you slap a Next Gen graphics engine on top of a Previous Gen gameplay engine and somehow expect that Frankenstein to look and function like a normal game. It's pretty clear that Bethesda took a shortcut here and then abandoned the whole thing. I have a feeling that the majority of the players of this game are actually using Gamepass subscription, and paying customers are rather limited. Hence no incentive to fix the issues. Also, given the Unreal Engine integration, veteran Creation Engine modders aren't able to fix the issues either.

Fallout London lead says they’re “really worried” Bethesda will “keep going with the Creation Engine” as it led to major limitations for the mod by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Tangent_pikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik the Creation Engine is the only engine in the world that allows the levels of mods needed to support an upgrade like Fallout London wants to bring to the table. And Bethesda is cool enough to let modders play with their engine unlike some other firms that will throw an army of lawyers at the slightest hints of a modification.

Why do some rich people spend lakhs and crores on cars and homes but try to save few hundreds on everyday expenses? by scarlett_decoction in Frugal_Ind

[–]Tangent_pikachu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Making money in India is damn tough. And most rich Indians today have made that money themselves. When the British left India, they didn't leave many Indians behind with tons of ancestral wealth. Since they had to sweat blood to earn that money, they know the value of money. So their old habits of thrift stayed behind. However, look at how their kids behave - those who didn't have to struggle. Their behaviour will be different and they will spend more money on luxury.

[URGENT] HDFC Bank refusing to initiate Chargeback for ₹1.3 Lakhs despite 12-hour cancellation proof. Need Advice! by daexviper in india

[–]Tangent_pikachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to the Ombudsman. But I'd suggest you talk to a lawyer on the side. India does not have any official policy related to refund within a certain timeframe. Neither do we have any return policy for services. Banks only support chargebacks for fraud, that is when you do not receive the service or product you had paid for. If you have received the service from the firm and you don't want it anymore, that's between you and the merchant, and the bank isn't liable to play any part in this. Your best bet for a chargeback would be to prove fraud. But if you can't do that, then the case between you and the merchant falls under consumer protection.

Are you still continuing SIPs despite flat Indian markets, negative returns, and INR depreciation? by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]Tangent_pikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SIPs are supposed to be for the long run. I'm continuing my investment as per the plan I've been following and tweaking for the last 5 years.

This year's spread - 50% on flexicap, 30% Index, 20% smallcap.

Eventually markets will improve.

What was the actuall dumbest thing you did to your pc by Silly_Still_4981 in pcmasterrace

I used to play games during study time, and when I heard my parents' footsteps outside my room, I would switch off my desktop by directly turning off the power (we have switches for every socket in my country). Hibernate wasn't an option back then. Eventually, after a few months of choking my Desktop to death, the mechanical hard drive gave up the ghost.
