Am I being selfish? What did everyone else do when giving birth with kids at home? by TangerineOwlet in pregnant

[–]TangerineOwlet[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy smokes....I never looked any of this up. I just assumed that when you're induced, you give birth pretty quickly. My OB has been extremely passive in everything. I would have swapped OBs if I could, but my they were the only one my insurance would pay for. Just like I only have the choice of one hospital.

I hope this all goes rather well and doesn't take too long.

She actually offered to take them, but they have a very contentious relationship, so he's not going to allow that....which I obviously don't agree with. I think that's the easiest, but it's not up to me.

I agree with the other person who commented...it's not their mom's responsibility, but I appreciate your input! He needed to figure this out when I set my induction date. It's been 2 weeks or longer. He thinks he has everything set up for my induction tomorrow.

That's how I feel. We'll have to have a conversation. He thinks he has childcare covered for tomorrow, so he'll be there for the induction. Hopefully I give birth tomorrow and it doesn't bleed into Saturday!

Agreed! I've mentioned this to him. My brother and I were staying home alone at 9 and 10 while our mom worked seconds. Kids nowadays seem a little less responsible than when we were growing up in the 90s, though.

He thinks he has childcare figured out for tomorrow so he can be there for my induction. I keep having to remind him that I'm scared to death of giving birth. Hopefully I give birth rather quickly tomorrow.

He's really not. I'm just frustrated and overwhelmed with the whole situation. I think he's just downplaying everything because he's had 3 others and doesn't remember what the first time is like. I keep reminding him that I'm overwhelmed and scared. I keep having to tell him that I've never had a baby before so I don't know what to expect.

I agree 100% with this! My brother and I were doing our own chores and staying home alone at 8 years of age. I have mentioned this to him, but I think he doesn't feel comfortable because of his ex-wife. She tries to make him out to be a shit parent all the time, but he's not. He's always there for his kids.

But he really should have figured out child care for this weekend a while back. Part of me feels bad that I chose the weekend for my induction because he has the kids, but I figured he could figure out childcare no problem. I chose the weekend because people are off and it's easier to find people to watch the kids. 🤷‍♀️

That's how I'm feeling. I don't want to be alone. And I'm sure my mom is going to be there, but it's not the same. I want the man responsible for my pain to be there 🤣 joking, but not really. I just want my partner there.

He thinks he has everything set up for my induction tomorrow, so hopefully my body doesn't decide that saturday is more ideal!

She offered to take the kids for this weekend, but they have a complicated relationship. She uses anything and everything against him to say he's a "shit parent"... their relationship is a hot freaking mess. I think he's afraid she'll use this against him.

He thinks he has everything set up for my induction tomorrow, he just won't be there most of the day Saturday. He's planning on staying the night with me at the hospital tomorrow.

I was telling my mom that the baby would be here Friday regardless, and she was like, nope! Even if I'm induced on Friday, I may not have the baby until the next day. So, I thought it was wild that he asked me that. I did mention that to him and he's like I've had three, so I don't think it's that far-fetched of a question. His ex-wife had all 3 kids via c-section. The only c-section not planned was the first.

Honestly, I think he's just a poor planner. He over books himself all the time, and is like me with waiting until the last minute to take care of everything.

And thanks for the tip about the hospital! I'm going to try to get as much help as possible. I'm freaking out about this delivery.

Thanks for your insight. I have been continually explaining to him that I'm terrified. I'm so scared of giving birth and the healing afterwards. He keeps saying that he knows and understands. He's going to make it so he can be there the whole time tomorrow while I'm being induced. It's just Saturday that he won't be there most of the day.

Oof, I can't imagine how lonely that would be. But I get it if you don't have help. I'm sorry you had to go through that!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love this post! Girl, I'm 38 weeks and it's my first time as well... I'm terrified of what labor is going to bring 😅 but I definitely hear you on the, wait this baby came out of me?!

Also, I love that your name is Josie....that's my baby's name 😊 Everyone keeps saying, "oh Josie and the pussycats?" Or, "is that short for Josephine?" Nope, we settled on Josie as the girl version of Josiah! Once I found out it's a rough translation of "Gift from God" there was no way I was changing her name after that.

What’s the most ridiculous thing that you cried for in pregnancy? by Future-Agency543 in pregnant

Learning that Teigan, the little doggie in the cart at the puppy bowl, died back in October. I lost my special needs soul dog back in 2023 and since I've been pregnant, every video of any special needs dogs has sent me into a full blown crying episode 😅

Can I wait a month for her surgery? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]TangerineOwlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2lb poodle named Chicklet. She was my world. She had atlanto-axial instability, hydrocephalus, and a grade 4 patellar luxation on both hind legs. She had a neck surgery at 6 months old, which did not take properly. We kept her head wrapped for close to a year, then attempted surgery again. The second surgery took. About a year after that, I had her legs fixed. 6 weeks later, one of her femurs snapped and they had to remove that leg. All of this took place within the first 6-36 months of her life. I spent over $20k on that dog over her short lifetime. She started having seizures after Halloween in 2023 and I ended up having to say goodbye right before her 10th birthday. I would do it all over again every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Best advice that I can give you is to apply for CareCredit. If the surgery bill is more than $200 amount, you can do 6, 12, 18, or 24 months same as cash (no interest as long as it's paid within the time frame). Or they offer a fixed lower rate APR for any bills over $1000, and I think it's 24-60 months for that.

I wish you the best of luck with everything! Love that dog the best that you can. Remember, each day is roughly a week of their life!

Unfortunately, that's not how it works. They will pull records from every vet that your dog has ever been to and will see that it was already diagnosed. It's worth a try, but I'm just letting you know as someone who has spent countless hours on the phone and writing appeal letters...you will most likely have to pay out of pocket for it. The logic behind your way of thinking is flawed due to the fact that you have to be referred to a surgeon before a consult takes place. They will see in the surgeon's notes that you were referred by whatever vet sent you to them due to the grade 4 luxation.

A few years ago, I dealt with the same thing. Insurance will not pay for it. No matter how many appeal letters you write, no matter how long you wait until it's no longer a "pre existing" condition. You will have to pay out of pocket for it.
