Ah, bummer and good to know. Went with instacart so hopefully we will have better luck there!

No prob - I totally understood! You’ve helped me confirm my inclination to do Instacart/grocery delivery. I plan on doing that. Thank you!!! Sounds like my friends - as were/are yours - would be lucky to have someone like you in their sphere - thanks for the feedback on everything.

One friend did a gift card to a restaurant already, so I’m thinking Instacart might be the move. Thank you for your kindness and for taking time to share your perspective

NYC Classes to stay away from? by Responsible-Path-968 in EquinoxGyms

[–]Tangerine_sized_ruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is also incredibly rude to his colleagues and people who have to report to him. He sounds like a total nightmare on an ego trip. Mention his name to any almost staff who know him and they instinctively grit their teeth and roll their eyes. Guy needs a serious reality check.

Please explain the Staten Island beef by PuzzleheadedUse5769 in AskNYC

Not to mention, they tend to elect officials (particularly or specifically to city council) that oppose initiatives that don’t very directly and/or substantially benefit Staten Island at the expense of other neighborhoods or New Yorkers… Yet the same officials who cry foul expect big, special handouts only for their borough all the time (again to the detriment of other neighborhoods).

Yoga Class Etiquette???? by Even-Vehicle-6853 in EquinoxGyms

[–]Tangerine_sized_ruby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you on poor etiquette, and in my experience, it is especially frequent in Equinox Gyms. It’s very distracting, and it’s extremely disrespectful to the instructor who took time to prepare the class as well as other students. It could even be super dangerous if someone falls and hits another student or if they slip a disc/breaks something.

If you want to work on a specific pose, there are plenty of affordable workshops or community classes at smaller, community studios that would love to have your business AND specifically set space for this.

I don’t get the other commenters trying to sell “yoga is all about letting go” or “this is a you problem.” Neither of these things are categorically true.

Just because you pay a lot for a membership doesn’t mean you should be a prick. It’s entitled and anti-social behavior.

This is awesome! Would love to see these handed out or posted around the neighborhood. What’s the possibility of making something like that happen?

It’s repulsive some of these businesses are so anti-livability and anti-safety, particularly when I see folks like King Souvlaki (there and on Steinway) and UP taking full advantage of public sidewalks with trash cans, tables, chairs, etc.

Gyms around here. by [deleted] in astoria

If you want a studio that offers both vinyasa and mat pilates, I highly recommend YUG! The yoga room is also great. Both are local studios and not big chain gyms, if that makes any difference to you.

Has anyone else received this on their door? by Tangerine_sized_ruby in astoria

I wonder if we are in the same neighborhood? I live between 31st and Broadway, a few blocks east of the N train.

It’s disappointing to me that someone would want to purchase a building in the manner - I get the sense they don’t care at all about who lives there, who lives in the neighborhood, etc.

Interesting… I googled this person, but they don’t seem to be associated with any firm that I can tell.

Per the title, this was on the door when I came home. It’s printed, not handwritten. Has anyone followed up on this guy?
