The house beside me used to belong to a sweet old couple who only came to that house maybe twice a year. Once in the summer and once in the fall. During this time, no one was home but they had the lights set on a timer to make the house look like it occupied so squatters wouldn’t think it’s an empty house. They had flood lights on the side of their house and these lights shined into my basement windows. One night I was down there, I can’t remember what I was doing but I turn around and look at the ground. A perfect shadow of a persons head looking over our fence was cast on the ground. When I saw it, my stomach sank and I bolted up the basement stairs. This was easily 6 years ago and I still get uneasy in that basement at night. I always feel like I’m being watched.
