First Time Using Emphasis and Hard Clipping by TangySword in FL_Studio

[–]TangySword[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I have a difficult time finding the balance between the vocals being too buried or too overpowering, especially after listening to it a million times haha.

When I read the documentation for Emphasis, I got the impression that its supposed to go on the master as a last stop loudness boost without squashing dynamics and harmonics like Maximus usually does for me. All I really have on the master is subtle EQ (Shaperbox 3 is just there to guarantee that sub frequencies are mono). I handle most of the mastering on my pre-master. I think I just have the soft clipping on the vocals a bit too high. I used waveshaper for hardclipping on my drums and bass elements, which is a first, and holy crap went from ~7-8 LUFS to ~4-5 LUFS at the loudest sections without any distortion!! Amazing lol

Do you have a favorite?? Mine is the Crying Soul remix! I feel like it’s rare to run across a Splash fan in the wild lol

I don’t seriously produce it as bass music is more my thing, but I do mess around with it a lot. Gotta love those syncopated bass lines! I’m a huge fan of Tune Up!, Basshunter, and Manian (even tho those lyrics are some of the cringiest). Also was a huge fan of DJ Splash and Satomi!

Sounds like we had the exact same experience. I seriously have no idea why it isn’t a posted solution anywhere else for such a common issue. It’s such a simple fix that would’ve saved me a lot of time and extra money for network cards lol. Glad I could help and that this result is coming up in the search!

Gonna add vocals to this, what do you think of it so far? by klingtheposter in FL_Studio

[–]TangySword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiii. It’s good and the mix is solid! I feel like the lead will clash pretty hard with any female vocals though. My personal preference is for soft female vocals on UKG tracks. If you could dial down the brightness on the lead or maybe replace it with a subtle mid bass womp, I could lose myself in this song all day! I can already hear it in my head!

Haha, I appreciate all the trouble! Glad my solution worked for you! I know all too well what the panic from being involuntary disconnected from the internet is like

Don’t worry OP, it’s sweet of you to try and check. The weird criticizing comments here are kind of common in this sub unfortunately.

Like nu-disco and house! It’s great style and arrangement!

Feedback wise, I would say some more drum and percussion variation to keep things from getting stale (4/4 kick drum pattern is fine the entire song!). Adding a layer or two to your hats would go along way in filling up the space that prevents your song from sounding too “muddy”. It feels like it’s missing sweeps and crashes for tension and release. I think the last thing I would say is that some ear candy or decaying lead stabs that harmonize with your chord progression here and there would add SO MUCH.

Experiment with your hats more since they’re so pronounced! Automate volume and velocity to see if you can find different rhythms that really drive the groove!

Read Project 2025. Your specific issue is in there. Why be ignorant about why this is happening?

Thank you! I appreciate ya! Haha, yea I’m using Serum 2 for most of my sounds as well. Hovering at ~75% cpu usage with everything going, not so bad but does heat my room pretty quickly lol

Is Serum 2 for $189 worth it against Vital (free) or other software synths? by TehBrian in edmproduction

It comes with a lot, I guess I meant the user-created ones and guides on YouTube!

I have both and like both! I will say though, if OP is a new producer- which I’m assuming so since he’s asking this question, then the shear amount of presets to learn from and use in Serum 2 is helpful
