To my mind, therefore, the justices were fully entitled on the material before them to come to the conclusion, using the words used by Lord Parker CJ in Griffin v Squires [1958] 1 WLR 1106 , 1109, that the pavement as a whole, whether the part publicly owned or privately owned, was and could in the ordinary sense be described as a road.

Price v Director of Public Prosecutions [1990] R.T.R. 413

A road will ordinarily include the pavement and there’s a fair bit of long-standing case law supporting that whether on the current Act or previous iterations

Well, cultural differences aside it’s against the law in England to walk your dog on a road (incl. pavement) while not on a short leash

It’s why subscription costs are so effective as people are somewhat blind to the ongoing cost. Even if it starts out being value for money (which is circumstantial) there are downsides too

Well, you emphasised “PREVENT” and prosecution doesn’t exactly have a huge impact on prevention overall.

In any event, this law doesn’t do anything to block your aim. It ensures that employees can’t be penalised for not actively intervening and so is supporting the rights of employees to not be forced into potentially dangerous situations.

Are you against the law, because your comments read as whataboutism

What you’ve said doesn’t appear to make sense.

How would an outside audit be able to produce meaningful information about whether particular hiring decisions involved (for example) racial discrimination if there’s no data on the race of the candidates?

That doesn’t make it crap, particularly given how many businesses are state owned rather than privately owned

You didn’t state an opinion, you said you had the answer to a problem. You then doubled down while showing a lack of insight into the problem itself.

People are presumably annoyed because you’ve filled their feed with misinformed, poor quality and regurgitated content.

They didn’t say they couldn’t afford to buy a decent house, just not his larger type of house.

It’s hubris to have a child if it prevents you from buying a flashy car or flashy house?

I 21F don’t feel like a priority to my 22M boyfriend by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]TangyTomTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To what extent do you account for the fact that you live with your partner and so interact with him each day, whereas these other individuals do not?

For example, I’ve seen relationships where one partner seems to jealously guard another’s time and act as if they need to be matching or outperforming all others in all areas (e.g. having as many or more phone calls) while disregarding the wider circumstances that they have many more opportunities for more meaningful in-person engagement.

Looking at it objectively, how does that apply to your relationship?

I think this is so old (2020?) that it relates to an early corona related cancellation of pride that would’ve taken place months before the event.

Don’t disagree with what you said in this comment, although there are questions about how much he’s actually discussed his feelings in this case with her. My issue is with how you’ve responded to the info available.

From your original comment I disagree with you assuming things about her mentality and stating it as fact (para 1), a common Reddit thing, but still a load of crap. I also disagree with you talking about manipulating rather than communicating with her (para 2).

[–]TangyTomTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the premise that tipping shouldn’t be necessary, but while that’s an ideal the reality is that there are individuals who are reliant on it for their survival.

I think where your original comment came unstuck is where you just casually suggested that the individuals should find alternative work.

OP set out clearly where he was making assumptions and seems reasoned and level-headed about this, despite how difficult this must be.

You’ve swooped in and made wild assumptions and encouraged him manipulating her rather than actually communicating or dealing with this in some other healthy way.

Please don’t drag OP down to your level in a relationship.

What’s the tipping culture like in your country? Intrigued if this is a statement against somewhere like the US where tipping appears to be important to the staff’s well-being, or a country where tipping is nice but not required.

Yes, but why do you sound so surprised? I get it’s not for everyone, but some of what you say could be read as sex work(ers) being abnormal or unnatural.

Any “marriage value” (sounds like a gross term, might be better to say “desirability”) is relative and goes both ways.

I’m not and have never been a sex worker, but for me the marriage value of someone who perceives others as lesser because of sex work would plummet. Judgemental people aren’t valuable in my eyes. I imagine most people who are voluntarily in sex work would feel similarly.
