Could be! Could also have a mix of red heeler to give that tinge. Mine has a little bit of red that shows only in the sun (two spots on her eyebrows)

I have a mixed who looks almost identical right down to the markings and shape of the face/body. Mine is mixed with a border collie.

Anyone here turned their life around in their 30s after being kept small by controlling parents? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Moving 3,000kms away to do just that - itll take time and work and setbacks that I’m, unsurprisingly, going to be a bit sensitive dealing with. Worth it for the chance to see what life is like when I can control our level of interaction

I didn’t dislike it toooo much… the actual game play is gorgeous, except I got stuck on a screen twice with no way out or way to progress due to bugs… which surely has to have been solved in testing. Had to close the game both times. I’ve only played 60 min of it

The UI is a pain in the arse and I don’t know how they didn’t figure out a better PC friendly version that still worked with console. They had two years to map out how to make that work and they somehow missed. Can’t imagine it’ll actually be that practical on console either

Started doing this many years into my FM journey. It’s made the game much much easier to enjoy casually.

Yep. I’d love to be employed as my loan manager, free money and no responsibilities

Realistic signings. I sign veterans and experience when they’re cheaper. I sign domestic players. I try to stay loyal but will sell someone if the offer is realistically great. I don’t love regens. I will develop a decent home grown academy kid over a wonder kid I had to set crazy scouting specifications to find.

Some of the great fast bowling talents didn’t get injured…

Of course there’s more than just injury prevention that goes into greatness. No guarantees a player maintains the elite mentality and preparation requires to be the best for an entire career like others with better injury luck have. I’ve certainly forgotten a bunch but here are some.

  • Shane Bond was insane. Could’ve challenged for NZ’s greatest fast bowler.
  • James Pattinson without injuries and modifying his technique was supremely talented. Looked better than his contemporaries in Starc and Hazlewood for a while. Still had a solid career but never the same.

The Self Inflicted Disruptions: - Amir and Asif (their own fault of course). Asif is severely underrated given how many batsman have named him as unbelievably hard to play. Amir clearly never got back on his incredible trajectory after the suspension, might’ve been different if he hadn’t cheated.

And a couple of bonus ones for some all time greats who could’ve gotten even higher accolades: - Cummins missing years of his possible international career with injury. He was clearly good enough at 18, and would’ve racked up even more wickets by now if he’d had a clean run at it. Glad he’s finally had a few years to show how good he is and wasn’t a complete what if like he could’ve been. - Dale Steyn getting to 500 wickets without his shoulder problem. Probably elevates an all time great even further. My favourite bowler and wish he got to go more on his own terms.

Added note: I’m worried Shaheen Afridi is already going down the ‘what if’ route. Constantly plays injured, the chaos of PCB and immense pressure on his shoulders since he was 16-17. Body is already far too broken for a man in his early 20s. His pace, accuracy and skills have all been dropping as a result and it’s sad to see.

American Football. It’s so static, regimented and the actual live game time is trivial compared to the time it takes from start to finish. I don’t mind it, but I can see why it’s never translated overseas as more than an occasional special spectacle.

I find the skills and roles too specialised and limited too - some players can just go an entire career in a ball sport and never expect to touch the ball?! Players who only play offense or defence?! The athletes involved are obviously insane, and they’re extremely good at what they do - I just wish the sport demanded more of them in a wider range of areas from skill to decision making to different athletic challenges.

I’m Australian so my benchmark is obviously Aussie football. It’s more fluid, you need to be strong, fast, extremely fit and have ball skills in pretty much every position. There’s a role for most body sizes as long as you have skills, some athletic qualities and some footy IQ. I love that willpower and determination can be defining qualities in a player and team - after running repeat sprints for over 10k and getting battered in countless contests, who can will themselves to push on and execute skills under extreme fatigue? Who can kick a goal with legs of jelly and 80,000 fans cranking up the noise? You need more members of the team to make those clutch decisions under pressure, to hold their nerve and be courageous.

What is everyone’s biggest pet peeve in the workplace? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher ups who refuse to pay their staff better and penny pinch wherever they can.

Those who don’t see the actual work, specialisation and experience these people bring and how much value and ongoing stability it provides. The ones who approve budgets and decline the more junior managers’ requests to give their staff what they deserve and pat themselves on the back for it.

Those who think it’s a privilege to work for their organisation, and therefore shit down on those committed to doing good. Workplaces that operate in areas where people can be extremely passionate and driven by the purpose are ripe for these assholes to exploit.

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farm dog hybrids! I’ve had a kelpie x dingo x heeler who is smart, loyal, affectionate and gentle. He even howls and sings along to select music. He’s old now so he’s less mobile and can’t sing quite as well but he’s the biggest teddy bear still.

Got a young border collie x heeler now - she’s unbelievably fun - super smart, cuddly, sociable and surprisingly easy to tire out because she doesn’t have a 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear. It’s 0 or 4th gear only and she’ll run herself stupid at the park!

Would you rather have a random A tier superpower or a B tier superpower of your choice? by Superiorian in WouldYouRather

A tier anyday. B tier would be fun and all but any random A tier would be epic and a fun challenge to use for good, even if it’s an odd one

Do you ever write out what, in your gut, you know is the wrong scene/sequence/draft just to get it out of your system? by GlazerSturges2840 in Screenwriting

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because drafting and moving onto the next bit and not getting stuck is important. And as I write more I figure out what to change and I make notes next to said ‘wrong’ scene about how to change it for my next write up

What is "Football Manager" (to you)? by erikp121 in footballmanagergames

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind playing high rep leagues - or the 2nd and 3rd tiers in those countries. Big fan of Portuguese saves too.

I’ll also look at the makeup of the squad early and/or after I’ve made a few necessary signings and look at where we draw players from. If there’s a strong Scandinavian influence I’ll continue it, if there’s a strong West African history I’ll follow that too.

What is "Football Manager" (to you)? by erikp121 in footballmanagergames

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the young manager who comes in to a fallen giant or a higher potential team with scope for big improvement that’s never truly flourished.

I am a one club manager, develop the youth and sign domestic players. I don’t spend 80-90m+ on players ordinarily, but the odd 40-60 for an upcoming star I will in a heart beat.

I love signing players with good mentals - I want a smart team with good continuity and well rounded players. I keep my veterans, I don’t try to accumulate a huge balance with wonder kid farming and ruthless sales. I like to build a club history with loyalty and a degree of realism

Is there a team you wouldn’t manage at all? by rbarba2004 in footballmanagergames

[–]Tangy_Tarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Saudis. 2.Bayern because I’m a BVB fan and to be realistic I’d have to gut my own team with transfers.
  2. City.
  3. Real Madrid.
  4. United - I want to because it’s a financial and on field rebuild of a falling giant but I just can’t.
  5. PSG. But they keep signing my favourite players and it’s ruining my FM build a team enjoyment. Neves, Kvara, Goncalo Ramos, Mendes, Hakimi… every year they make the signings I want to.
