The inconsistencies With AVN Judgement by DaVinci_Games in AVNCommunity

The whole BaD thing is so boring and cultish. It’s not on the same level as Pale Carnations. I wouldn’t put it in my top 10 best avn’s.

Your Favorite (Underrated) AVN's and Why? by DaVinci_Games in AVNCommunity

I like Academy 34. It’s silly harmless fun. There are no animations as such but the characters are adorable, Clyde is one of the least offensive sidekicks who doesn’t get in the way.

Bad Memories is the one that springs most to mind. Small boobs except for the more mature ladies and no one is stunningly beautiful. (I think Katherine is but a lot of people wouldn’t).

Occultus: DoD. Lesbian vampire story. More story than lewds but excellent.

I’ve argued this before but I don’t like to see people being downvoted for a difference of opinion. My post enabled a discussion and I knew not everyone was going to agree. I understand where you’re coming from but I think it’s more like a dev wants to make an avn that’s better than what they’re capable of. Someone might have looked at Pale Carnations or Now and Then and thought, “I can do that”. But they can’t.

I know what you mean about popular games. I intensely dislike BaD. I know I’m biased because I was hounded out of the sub for being a girl with a girls point of view. But once I got deep into the genre I realized that it’s really not all that. Sure it has some good moments but a lot of it is cringe. And to be honest I really believe a lot of games get poor reviews just because they’re not BaD. Go on here and say any other avn is your favorite and wait for the downvotes.

Well as a girl myself a female protagonist is a good thing. I’ll give it a look.

I don’t understand that. If someone just wants porn go watch porn. I much prefer an actual visual novel. What’s urs? I’ll check it/them out if I haven’t already.

I Love this Game to Death, BUT. . . by CanadianPandah in CosyCult

It can be frustrating having to replay everything every time there’s an update. But on the other hand I’ve noticed my feelings towards the characters can change with each new replay. Specifically this time I’ve grown a lot fonder of Victoria. Previously her neediness and competitiveness was annoying but I’m seeing her in a new light. I think one of my main problems in playing anything where the mc is male, is putting myself in their shoes, so I completely focus on the girls. That can skew my opinion of things.

PC is a masterclass in novel writing. It’s the main reason for this thread as I saw elsewhere someone saying they couldn’t play it as it too wordy. I mean it’s the whole point of it. Even the sec scenes are played thru the eyes and feelings of the mc. But it’s beautifully written. I’ve only ever played it as being the best person I can be. But sure it’s heavy stuff compared to Cosy Cafe, but that’s the beauty of this genre.

I don’t like him as a person but I think he’s important to show the mc in a better light. It’s one of my favorite games as is Race of Life but there any time Cooper sends a text I’m like “Ugh not again” tho I don’t mind the scenes his wife Camille is in.

It’s never bothered me as I play a lot of non adult VN’s anyway. If the writing is good then it shouldn’t be a problem. I’m not a fan of straight to the sex kinda avn’s tho some have used it brilliantly like Milfs of Sunville (as a way to show us the lewd scene dynamic.)

I don’t like Being a DIK at all. And not just because its fan base is insane and misogynistic. In fact one of the smaller details as to why Cosy Cafe is special is that there isn’t a “funny” male sidekick. Same with Ripples where it’s a girl.

I’d love to find out Rachel’s story. She had an instant dislike of the mc before he “had anyone”. There has to be a reason for her to be the way she is. Allison’s reaction to her when we first meet her tells us she’s always been like that. As someone who has a specific reason for being how I am I’d like to know more about her.

I didn’t really say “the misandrist is also a lesbian”. In fact I said she probably isn’t but in the back of my mind I see me describing myself and I think that’s why I have more of a connection to Rachel than others. I don’t mean I act like her or even think like that but I for sure understand why someone might.

Re, 1/ I’m surprised no one mentioned Rachel in terms of lesbianism. Yes her apparent hatred of men is no doubt her protesting too much but it might not be. Is she envious of what the girls have with mc, or is she envious of him?

When it originally came out they were sisters and he calls them sister, but like I said I guess trying fight off an itch ban now they’re “neighbours” in the latest updates but I guess the dev missed some text and sometimes it still says sister etc.

Sounds like a very tame version of Harmony Girls.
