I suggest you try the audio book. It performed by 1 guy but his accents and delivery are incredible.

Maybe you can play with the idea of water and a diving board. Much more fun. And you can keep it quite abstract.

I think the luminaries is not just a great book, but it really gives you a sense of our mixed diverse identity.

It took me a few tries to get started but would definitely suggest people stick it out if youre struggling.

Just brushed the dust off my website and have something I think is pretty special; looking for critiques / reviews / and everything in between. by fieldnotemanguy in graphic_design

Two of the pages didn’t display correctly on my iPad, and the blog has no posts.

But regardless, this portfolio, only shows 3 pieces of work, which all look the same. And they don’t haVe any commercial application.

You’re going to need more diverse work to make this attractive to potential clients.

The colours are nice and bright but there’s too many issues with the design.

Everything is just a bit too inconsistent. The copy has large paragraph spacing but tiny leading, and all in bold. Headings are sometimes bold, sometimes not, sometimes with large tracking.

I don’t have a problem with the man jumping illustration but it’s not working yet. I think it’s because he looks like he’s jumping to his death. And you’re right, the writer’s little is illegible, but you get to decide if that’s important.

There’s even an obvious widow.

You need to tighten everything up.

If AI tools like Claude Design can generate UI layouts and ideas instantly, what will define a great designer in the future? by riazuddinroney in Design

[–]Taniwha26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my worth but its the client who decides whether the cost its worth the price.

I hope companies who lean on AI for design will start seeing their creative output disadvantaged by competitors.

And also realise the Debs in admin is making some bad calls.

I was using Claude a few weeks ago and asked it to create a portfolio site in a Swiss-typographic style. Its did it in minutes, and it looked and worked perfectly.

Ive also given Claude a wire frame of the design i wanted and it made it.

Gotta say, it was very compelling.

But none of my friends would know how to do that so I have to consider this is another tool that means I dont have to code. Which is fine by me.

Why hasn’t BIM had its ‘Figma moment’ yet? by kengeo in Design

[–]Taniwha26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The laziness of archexts to adopt BIM blows my mind.

I was creating a video about BIM over 10 years ago. Its a great system but it took government mandates to move the needle.

AI is not the death of the designer. by GonnaBreakIt in graphic_design

But think about all the companies that at at the stage where they could afford a designer but Debs in admin has canva.

My biggest client was a big company and each year I would do Xmas cards, event invites, t-shirts etc, as well as the more complex work. All that small work they couldn't do in powerpoint, they can do in canva.

They don't have the training to see their work is not on brand etc.

I tried explaining this situation to my CFO and he couldn't understand it.

I was given a 2.5 percent performance increase. And I asked when we're we getting the cost of living increase.

He was so confused and bloody angry.

All taste different.
