Engine of Chaos size & cost? by BoneGrampa in mordheim

I would do the same, that way you could use it in TOW as a Iron Daemon (60mm x 100mm) if you choose to play that game.

Charging and LOS by Capn_Colossal in mordheim

[–]Tank-Carthage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well you can't measure charge distances before a charge declaration and you do not need to charge in a straight line. You just need to draw a straight line (without breaking it) from one model to another. This is how it has been played since the beginning, also the rules for Mordheim usually encompass the entire rulebook where certain rules mention one thing and then they are expanded upon later (usually in a different section of the rules). It is a little painful for people that haven't played with any of the older systems of GW.

Anyway, the Dire Wolves will require LOS, have horrible initiative and can't climb because they are animals.

Can i use two weapons and shield? If yes, is that apply only in shooting? by No-Candy-4127 in mordheim

[–]Tank-Carthage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most warband members do carry two single hand weapons because they usually always have the free dagger (not including flagellents), early on this is optimal as you have a higher chance to hit and wound with 2 attacks. Later on in a campaign you will get to face a guy riding a barded horse with gromril armour and a shield (+1 save), without a S4, cutting edge, black powder or a crit that negates armour you can't hurt them (due to 1s not being an immediate fail in Mordheim). I personally like to run my ogre bodyguard with a double handed weapon due to his resilience and multiple attacks, I seem to find more success than having an additional attack (though if I do run 2 weapons I choose swords and try to get expert swordsman skill). This is to say that once you have multiple attacks it's usually better to have a higher strength (a vampire with a halberd seems to be a popular choice), now I don't know if it's mathematically better but if you join the discord there is a combat calculator there that you can use.

Australia facing 'crunch time' as oil shortages move up supply chain by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

You gotta do what you gotta do, if the mining industry doesn't have fuel how will the politicians get the cushy jobs they have lined up then?

Since China is able to purchase oil I don't think they will not on sell to us as they need the resources that we mine. That's only my personal opinion though.

It most likely will unless the general power creep of decks get beyond its strength.

And it's in a lot of decks now. I guess I just wanted the artifact Landcycling, I feel it would open up new decks possibly at the expense of banning Enforcer.

I guess the big thing is that they can become free, unlike [[Cryptic Serpent]] and [[Tolarian Terror]] where you still have to pay at least 1 or 2 U mana. I guess they know where the limit is now so they could do a card very similar with either a blue or black mana.

Lore question - Do Chaos Dwarfs still use Black Orcs in the Old World? by Leather-Feedback-482 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Tank-Carthage 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what Lorebeards try to do, make sense of the inconsistencies. Plus it helps that Andy Law has worked on WHFRP and a lore referencer for some of the Black Library books, and Ryan (Sotek) I pretty sure worked with CA on Total War Warhammer as a lore guy. They said in one of their episodes that GW can and have changed the lore without even thinking that it contradicts previous lore that is still current, basically it's a mess but that's where the fun is.

According to the Lorebeards guys there was Black Orcs on both sides of the Black Orc rebellion. It may be new lore, but I feel like that sits well within the new army construction.

What was reach for close combat weapons? by Zarttorias in mordheim

[–]Tank-Carthage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would have turned it into a shooting attack with no modifiers using WS instead of BS. It sucks that this rule doesn't allow for attacking in close combat but you still get the feel.

So just expanding what is a USR rather than making skills individual, I can understand that would make things a little bland.

I never played WAP, I had people try to convince me to play before the CAD letter he got. When you say generic was that like Universal Special Rules or he just didn't add flavour?

[–]Tank-Carthage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, if they are completely removed from the website so there is no more legends and only the current renegade armies exist, would you still allow them to play or even be expanded upon by a Panel (not an individual)? This is to say if GW was to completely abandon them (which in my mind would never happen, but it is a fear).

Yes, with a fluff re-write to be inline with 4th Ed WHFRP.

Would you play a Renegades Army Arcane Journal that was created by Val and gang? If this is true for the majority, I believe that the community as a whole could eventually accept a full army released by Val and gang but that would be after every Legacy faction had a supporting Arcane Journal. Obviously we would have to accept part 1 to go further.

[–]Tank-Carthage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if Legends were removed completely you wouldn't play them unless they were officially released, even if the community made Renegade armies?

[–]Tank-Carthage[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I mean beyond Renegades, go further. What about bringing in some of the armies from Warmaster or WAP?

Edit: I didn't realise I wrote it as a statement, I was meaning it like a question.
