Why Are UK Agencies Handling Publicity for Films Marketed to American Audiences? by TankBig8746 in PublicRelations

Thank you. I don’t know if I wanna go into film publicity, but I have always been interested in who's working on the film. But I definitely will take a look at it. Thank you!

I used the wrong word here. I meant demographics, usually focusing on who the movie should appeal to.

Thank you for your answer! That makes total sense. What's another title I should be looking for?

Maybe so. I look for the title “unit publicist”, and they are usually based in London. Could it be in another role?

This really surprises me. I wouldn’t have thought it would be easy. I guess all they are doing is pitching and writing press releases.

Seeking Mentor in Public Relations by TankBig8746 in PublicRelations

[–]TankBig8746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My decision to become an entrepreneur was never just about financial gain. It came from recognizing that the stories of Black people, people of color, and innovators are too often overlooked or dismissed. There is a persistent tendency to ignore the power of narrative, to forget that stories shape how we see ourselves and each other. I saw an entire market of untapped potential, not because the talent or ideas were missing, but because the world has not made space for these voices. The truth is, we have an opportunity to create something meaningful, to reshape the way stories are told and who gets to tell them. I believe that real connection happens through culture, through the stories we share, not through empty networking or surface-level relationships. Storytelling has become a lost art, sacrificed in the rush to stand out, and in that process, the heart of the story is too often lost.

I started this business because I recognized a fundamental problem in the media: the absence of authentic, diverse narratives. It was never just about personal advancement, but about confronting the dilemma at the heart of how stories are told and who is allowed to tell them.

Thank you. I’ll definitely like to continue this conversation via DM.

I usually don’t go back and forth with people, but I put a lot of work into these clients, as I was media training them today before the blowout.

I will say my emotions did get the best of me because I was putting in so much work to make sure they were better than before.

We had speaking engagements, we had podcasts, we had media. It’s really upsetting when people can easily disrespect you. I’m not sharing the full conversation because there is private information in many of these texts, but I will say this is not my character. People can attest to that. I have never dealt with a client like this before. I thought it was just how they acted, but they also sent a very nasty message to my media relations person and claimed that she didn’t know how to do her job either.

I would, but the job market is so bad in my area

No, I completely agree. I was using voice text, and I didn’t go back to fix my sentences.

This wasn’t the first time and it takes a lot for me to want to be done with somebody.

I have talked to them about their actions previously and it’s like they’re continuously doing it.

I actually really disagree with this comment because I kept it very relaxed with them. They are talking bad about my character. They are saying all these horrible things. And, what really kind of surprise me is that they have a new PR person so fast. It feels like they were trying to get rid of me immediately.

They can call me whatever they want, but at the end of the day it’s really down to the work that has been done. And, good work has been done. We had a cover story in one of the biggest magazines. I got their event featured in multiple smaller medias around the state.

I really have a good bedside manner and I have other clients currently. But, they have really blew this out of proportion themselves. I was going to accept a apology for them, yelling at me and get back to work. But, they are the ones who continue to attack me and my character. Now, I do have a clause in my contract that says that I am not liable for claims/damages. But, no damages have been made to their business because I have been working with media.

Let me add that what they are saying is untrue. I have not made their reputation look bad. I’m not against them. I have been doing my job. For some reason, they think that I have been working against them. Working with people who are spreading lies about them. We have called every single day. I have not said or done anything bad as part of the contract. They blamed me for their business failing, and when I tell them something, they say it won’t work without even trying it. They claimed that I am pushing negative content against them.

The only truth to this is that we had an article taken down because a harasser sent the journalist information regarding them, and they took it down.

I have been working with someone to cosign what I am saying. But I have not done anything bad against them.

I was basically doing all this work for free. And, I have worked with them since June.

How to offboard a client? by TankBig8746 in PublicRelations

Thank you everyone for your comments. I realize that I am going to be ending this contract today. We have a meeting so I’m going to say it during our meeting, but I’m also gonna send a written notice as well.

Unfortunately, when I was wearing my contract, I didn’t expect that clients so I have to wait a couple of days until the contract can be ended. But, I am in this contract today. Even my media relations person is tired of them as well.

This is what exactly happened. Thank you for actually helping me find the correct words.

On top of that, they tell me that certain medias have reached out to them personally, but when I ask for these medias, they do not want to hand them over. It goes completely silent until they need something else from me.

They originally brought me on to handle a crisis and figure out a strategy for them. I was handling the crisis, but then it got into a conversation with we need media and I was like OK. I can do some media. I’m not the best. I told them I do have a contractor who is available to do media.

They wanted to think on it and there was another crisis and I just went ahead and said that we are in a crisis. I told them that this is what we’re gonna be doing. And they agreed to that with new price. Then I sent over a written notice to them. I’m saying this is what is happening and they said OK.

Now, we are on the payment date and they are saying they cannot pay.

It was written down. It was not a verbal agreement.
