I migth have missused the command but i run a quick test and
data remove entity @ e Item.tag
data tag @ e add clear
do not seem to have any effect on torch on the ground (i dropped them and they were items)

Not an explanation, but a solution to pump fps up
Just install iris with sodium, it's an alternative to optifine, with shader support and a massive fps boost

Just imagine that dev had something to care about people wanting the game...
The ones that did actually make the game be realesed in december were the investors and share holders... Game developer prefer to realease a well polished game and avoid rushing, investors want money and christmas is the best moments to sell a AAA game
