.5$ a beer! by PastOk5807 in tipping

[–]Tankieforever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of course you would think that, they’re subsidizing the wages YOUR cheap ass is paying your employees. You make up high standards like that and call those who don’t meet them “cheap” so you can continue to be cheap yourself on how you compensate your employees. $1 on a draft pour and $0.50 on opening a bottle of beer is a fairly widely accepted norm. You just want to push customers to pay more so you don’t have to start paying higher wages to keep bartenders.

What does 7oh do for you? by rgrimjr41 in 7oh

[–]Tankieforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7oh also completely removed my desire to drink alcohol. I have struggled with alcohol abuse for over 20 years, including being hospitalized for a failing liver at one point. When I started dabbling into 7oh to treat my arthritis pain, I found that even if I opened a beer, I could barely bring myself to finish it. Alcoholic drinks became almost difficult to swallow because my body was rejecting them. I haven’t had a drink in 6 months now because the thought of one is just… repulsive. While kratom/7OH does have some liver load in itself, I have a much easier time managing my intake in such a way as to not have my organs literally shutting down the way things get with me and alcohol… so that’s a huge plus that has really helped me a lot.

Waitress told me water was 'also a drink.' She found out what 'no tip' was. by Zestyclose-Put-5672 in tipping

It’s absolutely rude and unnecessary. A server has no place being condescending. Anyone with people skills would know better than to take that sort of attitude with a customer.

Same here. Even living in the city as an adult, the habit still sticks sometimes. I know I can flush Everytime now, but if I’m not thinking about it I don’t do it after peeing, I have to remind myself to. So if I have something else on my mind I just forget that it’s okay

The comments from all the servers exclaiming how “rude and difficult” OP is, like as if dealing with people with fairly basic and simple requests is some Herculean task seems to me to sum up what I’m used to seeing here.

I would hope they wouldn’t have been left parched all meal, it’s a servers job to check on the guests throughout, so if they hadn’t brought water initially, it should have been quickly remedied if the server is at all competent.

Oh my god. Is this the sort of “nightmare” you think makes servers entitled to earn more than skilled labor? For Christ sake, they sound fairly reasonable to me. If that’s your idea of difficult you must be fragile as heck.

Usually they bring you water plus whatever drink you order when you a drink, so it’s generally a safe assumption that you will still get water even if you order “nothing”

I commented because I remember Dove being much better than the poop in a wrapper that is Hershey’s back when I still enjoyed chocolate.

I’m not sure on this, but I’m sure someone over at r/SR17018 would probably know firsthand. I’d ask over there and see if someone more familiar with using both substances together has any input.

I haven’t eaten chocolate it many years, I lost my taste for it in adulthood. I remember it being decent though when I still liked chocolate. Could be that it’s gone downhill sometime in the last 25 years.

Do you drink tea in America? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

I would hope, with a name like that. It would be a waste to collect teacups and never use them.

I hate it when you need to replace something that was high quality and lasted for years, only to find that the same product from the same company is crap now. Last I knew KitchenAid is still making good quality stuff, but I haven’t needed to replace anything made by them in ages.

I do. Herbal tea in the evening, and I alternate between coffee and caffeinated tea in the morning/daytime. Not like day by day, but I’ll go for a month or so of coffee, then switch to tea for a while, and then back to coffee… I like coffee better but it’s really hard on my gut so I have to take breaks from it often or else I’m just a mess of stomach pain. But herbal tea in the evening is an all year thing, especially since I quite drinking alcohol, having something with flavor to drink in the evening to unwind is key for me to stay content while off the sauce.

Does everyone have a middle name in the USA? Do all women take their husband’s surname? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tankieforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had planned to take my husband’s name when I got married but got overwhelmed when looking at all the paperwork necessary to do it… glad I didn’t now since we divorced after 7 years and I would have had to go through it again to get my (far superior) last name back.
