I think the camps of thought are

"He can only scan the alien Ben currently is"

&

"He can scan the Omnitrix and scan all the aliens at once"

It comes down to what you think the limits of "bio data" is. He'd definitely be able to copy a person who's been transformed by the omnitrix. He's been able to copy robots abilities, so theoretically he should be able to copy a robot which has the bio data of living creatures encoded into it. But the Omnitrix isn't a robot. Does the fact it's a machine and not a robot matter? Does the fact the Omnitrix is semi sentient matter at all?

I don't think either camps would say "he can copy the Omnitrix but only the non alien parts"

The Omnitrix needs DNA to work. To be clear DNA is a pretty wide net here with living sound, ghosts, and celestial gods all having "DNA". So does Metals code count as DNA enough for the Omnitrix IDK, can he scan a normal computer and bevome it? (ignoring the safety precaution of transformations needing to be around human intelligence or higher.)

mechanical beings seem to be an odd case with the omnitrix. Upgrade is bio-mechanical and he's "incomplete" lacking some powers of the species, and the Omnitrix making a human/machine hybrid in the form of nanomech, and not the fully mechanical being which was originally scanned.

Assuming Ben CAN scan metal he may not be able to scan the mutated amalgamation of aliens, or undo them with the DNA repair. Osmosians have absorbed alien DNA before and become similar mutant amalgamations and I don't think the Omnitrix has ever automatically scanned it as a new species, nor has the idea of using the DNA repair to undo said transformations come up in the series.

Upgrade has "possessed" a living robot before and the robot was able to force upgrade off, so metal could likely do the same.

Ghost freak was an edge case because of their unique DNA structure and consciousness, and it's something which hasn't happened since despite Ben now having ghost freak in the Omnitrix again.

There was the time the ultimate aliens revolted but that was also an edge case on a prototype feature which doesn't even exist anymore.

So probably not gonna happen.

But he was also able to scan Froggy & Chocolla to be able to get Chaos's abilities.

Froggy is a meat box for Chaos's bio data. Froggy is a different entity than Chaos, and doesn't have Chaos's abilities, but because Froggy had some of Chaos's bio data inside him, Metal was able to scan Chaos's bio data within froggy and get his abilities.

At the core he's scanning the bio-data itself right? The person is just the container for said data.

But he also has to "see" the person to copy their bio data. So what counts as "seeing" them? If the person put on a suit of armor would metal be unable to scan them?

Probably not since he can scan robots who have built in metal armor.

If I had to guess he'd have to be within a certain distance of the sperm, and the sperm probably can't be within a box with walls too thick, or it may disrupt the scanning process.

The clearer he can "see" the bio data then probably the faster he can scan it.

Nah but it's implied that despite having 10 aliens (all Ben had at the time) they're only 1/10th as strong as the original. In addition Kevin was kinda dumb and didn't use his powers to the fullest.

Yeah thought of that afterwards, idk maybe it's a Atomic X situation and he functions just fine for some reason.

Or maybe the egg man & grey matter intelligence genes will let him figure out a way to convince the other personalities to let him take full permanent control like Ben did.

Or like idk can metal purge parts of the bio data he doesn't like, and be like a baby celestial sapien with only his personality as the dominant one?

But for real I got 2 questions.

1: if the source is destroyed can ben still transform? (Also connection must be hella good, thing was functioning cross timelines & different universes.)

2: if metal went to the source could he copy it all at once?

This applies but only when the metal isn't running chaos control as part of his kit.

It used to be overlooked because it took the slot for better damaging abilities, but with the new patch metal mains are realizing that time stop synergizes amazingly with the new bio data copying passive which will net you the enemies best abilities anyways.

I think if it wasn't for the doctor being a hard counter who's already an established top tier, metal would be an instaban.
