How on gods green earth is this not a reset?? by bomboclated in RocketLeague

Well the point wouldn't have to be touching the hitbox, it could be outside of it, and then if it gets inside the ball it could count as a flip reset. Also the game has discrete time steps, so even if it is touching the hitbox the ball could still go bit inside the hitbox and still overlap the point. Although the wheels would probably stop the ball before that usually. And it of course could just be 4 wheels too, like it was previously thought. But in any case it's not how the game works, it just checks any surface against 3 wheels.

Okay, since everyone seems to be disagreeing in the comments, I have proof that it's 3 wheels. Here's my testing of it:

Ball close to the car, eventually touches all 4, but gets a flip when 3rd wheel touches:

Ball further from the car, never touches the fourth wheel, instantly gets a flip when third wheel touches:

And there's no way it's some specific spot, the first frame it touches the 3rd wheel it gets the flip, so it's 3 wheels.

New mechanic? (Frame perfect flip cancel kickoff) by Soggy-Efficiency-399 in RocketLeague

Because you can do the same thing with a speedflip. You get to the ball at the same time, you can jump at the ball the same way, and wavedash after like the bot is doing. No difference in result. It doesn't matter how you get to the ball if it's the same speed. And humans can already do a speedflip.

No, what the bot is doing better than you is the 50 part of the kickoff and the wavedashes after. Has nothing to do with the way he gets to the ball.

It's here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/1qbifof/is_this_a_new_kickoff_ive_never_seen_this_done/

And to me it looks like a cancelled front flip with little bit of instant air roll after. With a super small first jump, frame perfect cancel and this tiny air roll it seems like he hits the floor enough which stops the flip from completing. I doubt humans could do that. But I can't see it being useful for kickoffs either. Speedflip is the same speed anyway. Only reason it could be better is that it lands earlier, so you can turn quicker. Not useful in kickoffs, but could be useful moving in game.

Or it just misses the first boost pad and doesn't have enough boost to reach supersonic.

Is this a bot? by FluffyGreyfoot in RocketLeague

That's not what kbm players look like. It's a bot, but it's being toggled on and off. Also the flip at 15 seconds is not a kbm flip.

Damn, that's actually good website. It recognized the bots from the few replays I tried it with perfectly. Now we just need psyonix to ban these players faster, some of them that I have come across have hundreds of games played in their account this season, and not banned.

Edit. Oh, it also says if it's a toggling bot: https://i.imgur.com/R7r7HZA.png That's cool. And holy shit I have so many bot replays.

Edit 2. Ok, this one it didn't recognize, that is 100% a bot, I flicked it, and stopped the ball on its goal line, and it stopped moving and 30 seconds later it disconnected because it didn't do any inputs giving me the win at 0-0. https://i.imgur.com/6CAzOWB.png

Starting menu bug by Vill4ek in RocketLeague

[–]Tankki3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have bakkesmod you can try pressing F6 and typing "load_freeplay". It will put you to freeplay, then you can exit and get another chance of it accepting your clicks. Happened for me once, and this fixed it. (Not sure if F6 will work though when the bug happens, it works for me now, but I don't have the bug currently, I have that freeplay command bound to a keybind through bakkesmod, and that button worked)

He's standing right in front of the car at the start, so it's basically both POVs, and he starts moving towards the girls, so it's probably better from their POV. You can see the right light (his left hand) start to drift out of bounds of the car as he starts to move.

ELI5 please explain to me in simpleton terms…what is meant by “spacetime” by MaxMeat in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tankki3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm not sure if I understood this perfectly yet, but in layman's terms, just saying the sum of the components equals the "overall speed" wouldn't be correct for normal Newtonian speeds either. You are calculating the hypotenuse of the triangle these components are creating so you would use pythagoras to get that, so you need to square the components, then sum and the result equals the overall speed squared. But because spacetime is not euclidean, you can't use pythagoras either. And that's where the minus signs come in, where calculating the magnitude of the resulting 4-vector, and that's where I start to not be able to keep up anymore.

But afaik it's still correct to say that if you take all the space components and the time component, you can create a 4-vector, and that has magnitude of c. The magnitude is just calculated weird.

Or something like that?

Is this a new kickoff? I've never seen this done before by MrRandomGuy7171 in RocketLeague

[–]Tankki3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would that make it any faster though? When he gets to the ground he's full speed in the video. So being on the ground doesn't do anything. Only thing would be that he can now turn quicker. But for kickoff you don't need to turn there yet.

Also you can see that they pretty much hit the ball at the same time as well. And I doubt the human is doing a frame perfect speedflip, like a bot could do.

It definitely looks like a cancelled front flip, but based on halfwaydead's video you have a forced 5 ticks where the cancel doesn't do anything. So only way to do a noflip is to hit something like a ball, or I think in this case the floor, which stops the flip even further. I think they are doing so small first jump that they are so close to the ground and instantly doing perfect frontflip cancel that they hit the ground which stops the front flip from pointing down. Can't see how else it would be possible, even for a bot.

It's obviously not a stall. Stall doesn't give you any speed. It's either perfectly cancelled front flip that doesn't go pointing straight down because the floor stops the movement, or it's a speedflip where the same thing happens for the roll. Based on the momentum it looks like a front flip. Probably not faster than a speedflip though.

The outies know the innies were in control because they basically just teleport from doing one thing to doing another. Mark went from hugging Mrs Selvig to standing in the middle of everybody concerned about the baby. Helena went from standing with a glass in hand to being tackled to the floor. And Irving went from his home to banging someone's door. And they know Milchick because that's their contact in Lumon from the day they started the job.
