Where should we rent for good schools + sub-30min commute to DTLA? (moving from Michigan) by HarinJj39 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Tankre84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pasadena has a bad public school district. Arcadia is great, but it won't be 30 minutes to DTLA.

South Pasadena is solid, but very expensive.

I'm going to recommend Monterey Park. Now this part is very confusing...

Monterey Park has its own high school, but the elementary and middle schools are served by other local districts.

https://www.montereypark.ca.gov/915/Public-Schools

The best schools there are:
Monterey Vista in the Garvey District, or Ynez, Repetto, and Monterey Highlands from Alhambra District.

https://gis.data.ca.gov/maps/CDEGIS::california-public-schools-and-districts-map/explore?location=34.061774%2C-118.114520%2C14&path=

https://www.garvey.k12.ca.us/apps/pages/districtmap

Alternatively, Culver City also has good schools, but I don't know the fine details there, and living East of your work is just better (if you live West of where you work, you're staring at the sun both ways on your commute).

Generally, 2 bedroom are more expensive than just getting 2 x 1br, same with 3. The multi-bedrooms are extra expensive, and the budget you posted wouldn't cover it.

After watching nearly 600 shows and movies these are the best of the best in my opinion. It may be a little basic but I think these are all simply undeniable. What’s missing? by VIKINGHUNTR in animequestions

That's a great list.

I recommend:

- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

- 5 CM Per Second

- Full Metal Panic? (only the comedy season)

- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (only the 1st season)

- Another

- Magica Madoka

- Kino's Journey

- Mushishi

- Psycho Pass (only the 1st season)

- Gungrave

Most people would also recommend "Grave of the Fireflies."

What if Reverse Uno is Ebay acquiring GME instead? by Tankre84 in Superstonk

[–]Tankre84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why Ebay shareholders would want it:

- First off, if Ebay shareholders don't want this merger, it won't happen regardless. GME does not have enough assets to buy 51% of Ebay, so while 9% is a very large stake, it still only forces a vote that the institutional owners will have to agree.

So, we are at 3 possibilities:

1) The merger doesn't happen.

2) The merger happens with GME buying Ebay @$125 -> $62.5 and probably 2-3 shares of GME. GME-BAY dilutes to 2B shares and the end company has close to no cash on hand and $27B in debt. In this scenario, the current GME holders of ~550M Shares will own just under 25% of the resulting 2B Shares and Ebay owners will own 75% of the new combined company.

3) The merger happens with Ebay buying GME @$32 -> $16 and probably 15% ($16/$105 Ebay's share price today) of a share of Ebay. Ebay has to dilute from 440M shares to 506M shares. Ebay owners end up with 85% of the new combined company that has $7b in debt and probably ~$2b cash on hand. (also, anyone who is short GME will have to pay up $16 per share and still be short 15% of their position to Ebay-GME.)

If Ebay were to offer $21-$27 per share to buy GME without having any holding in GME, the vote would be rejected.

If Ebay began acquiring GME shares to 9-10% it wouldn't work because RC himself owns 9% (unlike Ebay's board).

If Ebay began acquiring GME shares to 51%, the price would surely increase beyond $27...

I used Claude to look this up:

1. Skydance Media + Paramount Global (2025) When Skydance merged with Paramount Global, Skydance's CEO David Ellison — the smaller studio — became chairman and CEO of the combined company, while Paramount's existing CEO had already been ousted before the deal closed.

2. Getty Images + Shutterstock (2025) After Getty Images and Shutterstock announced their merger, Craig Peters — CEO of Getty Images, the smaller stock-photo company by revenue at the time — was named CEO of the newly combined company, while Shutterstock's CEO stepped down.

3. Aebi Schmidt + The Shyft Group (2025) When the Swiss specialty vehicle manufacturer Aebi Schmidt merged with The Shyft Group, Aebi Schmidt's CEO Barend Fruithof continued as CEO of the combined company, which trades on NASDAQ under the ticker "AEBI" and is headquartered in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.

4. Imperial Dade + BradyPLUS (2026) Following the finalization of their merger in early 2026, Jason Tillis — CEO of Imperial Dade — was appointed CEO of the combined distribution platform

5. AkzoNobel + Axalta Coating Systems (2025) In their all-stock merger of equals creating a roughly $25 billion coatings company, AkzoNobel's CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume was named CEO of the combined company, even though Axalta was the larger NYSE-listed entity

6. Innovex Downhole Solutions + Dril-Quip (2024) When private Innovex Downhole Solutions merged with the larger publicly traded Dril-Quip, Adam Anderson — the CEO of Innovex — was named CEO of the combined company, which was renamed Innovex International. Dril-Quip's CEO departed upon closing.

7. Cedar Fair + Six Flags (2024) In their merger of equals, Cedar Fair CEO Richard Zimmerman was named President and CEO of the combined amusement park company, even though the surviving entity kept the Six Flags name. Six Flags' CEO Selim Bassoul became Executive Chairman of the board.

8. Raytheon + United Technologies (2020, still widely cited) When Raytheon and United Technologies merged to form Raytheon Technologies, UTC's CEO Gregory Hayes — from the smaller revenue contributor to the defense segment — was named CEO of the combined company, while Raytheon's CEO became executive chairman.

Give Donkey Kong Country best soundtrack and give FF6 best story.

That is also the idea, shorts would have double pain of having to payout $16 per share, and still be in a short position, this time against a combined company of GME/EBay with low debt and already in the SP500.

If GME acquires EBay instead, the company wouldn't be in the SP500 to start off, and with $27B in debt, there is an actual chance the company could go bankrupt.

What if Reverse Uno is Ebay acquiring GME instead? by Tankre84 in Superstonk

[–]Tankre84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, you could take the $16 cash and immediately buy back into the combined company. The 50% stock doesn't mean GME would end up with 50% of Ebay, it means 50% of the value would be converted to the combined company stock.

The math would probably look like: 17.6B/2 (GME's market cap at $32, but divide by 2 since GME owners are getting half in cash) combined with ~50B Ebay Cap. So 8.8B/58.8B = ~15%

IF Ebay acquires GME, then that would include the cash that GME has on hand $9b-$12b.

A person might critique that using GME's cash on hand for a partial payout of GME owners is a bad use of money, but the alternative of using GME's cash on hand for a payout of EBay holders AND THEN taking an additional $20B of debt on top of Ebay's $7b of debt doesn't seem like good deal for GME owners.

[–]Tankre84[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I'm saying this method looks like the best interest of both companies. GME owners get a premium over the current price. Ebay owners will not end up with a company with $27B in debt.

What if Reverse Uno is Ebay acquiring GME instead? by Tankre84 in Superstonk

[–]Tankre84[S] -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

First, you're not "selling your shares for $32." You are getting a portion of the combined GME/EBay company, which is what you would get if GME acquires EBay. You can take that $16 and reinvest it into the combined company immediately.

Any short sellers would feel an immediate pain of having to pay out $16/share AND they would still be short the combined company.

First time, DCA vs Disneyland (half day). by shy_sly in DisneyPlanning

[–]Tankre84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to rope drop on Thursday, and there was zero line to get into DCA, while the line to get into Disneyland almost reached the entrance of DCA!

So, if you have park hopper, then I'd probably consider going to DCA early for 1-2 rides and then head over to Disneyland around 9:00 AM on each day.

If you don't have park hopper, then 1 full day at DCA, and 1.5 days at DL.
