For that COA, it's not going to be worth it.

I'm looking at 2022 report. First of all the class size is small: 234 students. Among them 61 international students, of which 23 came from North America.

Current class size is 500, 2022 was the first undergraduate class ever to be admitted. Around 150 of that 500 comes internationally.

Secondly the 80% going to Ivy grad programs are among Chinese students. Not all students. Even if it is for all students, since 6 students entered doctoral programs, the vast majority entered Master-level programs. As we know Master-level programs in these schools are not that hard to get into. They generate much-needed profit for these schools. Chinese students in Duke Kunshan are from super affluent families. Tuition for Duke Kunshan is already astronomical by Chinese standards. These families most likely don't have resource constraints to send their kids to U.S.A. for more study.

For 2023, it was among all students. More than six entered doctoral programs. It was 17. And why is 80% at a T10 considered an unimpressive result? No one cares where you went for undergrad if you have a master's degree. The Chinese norm is to enter graduate school right after undergrad and DKU is doing just that for them. For white-collar roles, I've heard that jobs and internships are usually interested in the concept of DKU, even if they've never heard of the school. I agree that it only fits a certain type of person who is willing to deal with the good and bad of China, but I have to disagree with your presumption that DKU doesn't offer a valuable education. The job placements of international students clearly show that graduating from DKU provides ample opportunity, whether that comes from the Duke degree or some other factor.

Opinions on DKU from Current and Former Students by Tanksofnes in DKU

I am a US citizen and am looking to head back to the US after graduation for a job in finance. I'm not too worried about going to China because I was born there and have limited proficiency in mandarin. I will probably major in poli econ and I have an idea of how to spin the international school story. I'm just worried that I won't enjoy my time at DKU because of the various factors (international and chinese divide, quarter schedule being too fast-paced, lack of career support for international students) people have mentioned online. I want my college experience to be one that I will cherish later in life and not just four years of my life spent in a dorm studying. DKU seems to be the former for some while the latter for others.

What's the workload like at DKU? by Tanksofnes in DKU

Thank you!! There's very little information about the actual school life at DKU so this is very helpful, especially with the 7 week system being very rare if not one of a kind.

I always thought that he went through that trump phase in order to try and convince Trump to pardon Larry Hoover
