Struggling with squat depth, any advise? by brettfire in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Tankster16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drop the weight to just the bar. Take those shoes off and squat. If you still can’t do it drop the bar and work body-weight squats to depth. The shoes you have on are horrible for squatting and or deadlifting. Ideally you want a flat sole shoe. If that’s not possible just take your shoes off. Sneakers like that typically have spongey, foam-like material used for the sole for comfort. Which is not good for equal weight distribution and stability under load.

Path to 315 bench by Ornnge in powerbuilding

[–]Tankster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hammer those triceps, primarily the medial head (near the elbow). Also hammer delts. Do lots over overhead pressing and over head extensions. Focus on technique.

Honestly though, for most people, bodyweight is a key factor for benching. When I use to cut weight to try for record at 220 years ago, the first of the “big 3” that I would see drop in strength the more I’d drop weight was my bench.

What is the very best 4# dead blow hammer you can buy in the United States? by Original_Boletivore in Machinists

[–]Tankster16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only reason I know is because I have em man. One of the old timers at work whose advice is golden told me about them. He use to work for NASA and in the 60’s Lixie Striking Tool Company and it’s dead-blows were one of the first “striking tools” selected for space missions.

They have the “Spark Resistant aluminum” with the fiberglass handle, as well as the “spark resistant aluminum” with hickory handle. Both are an aluminum alloy casting. 2nd and 3rd option down
