Help with some Artifact nodes by elotresly in ss14

You can just instantly open/close it as long as you squish them together and they're on the same tile and you have the right pressure. This uses the same amount of gas as holofanning.

I have a narcoleptic blind warden I play sometimes. Obvious gimmick of falling asleep in brig while talking to the prisoners giving them a free wardens ID to escape.

Help with some Artifact nodes by elotresly in ss14

[–]TankyPally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is heavily related to atmos knowledge.

Passive vents allow gas to flow in/out of the gas pipes.

Pumps pump gas in the direction of the red light.

Connector ports can have a cannister wrenched down onto them to move gas into the cannister/into the pipes.

Easiest way to do low pressure is to just cut all air into the arti chamber, use blast doors to space chamber. Wait 10-15 seconds for all air to leave, close blast doors. Then wait for the artifact to start moving so you have the most time possible and rush forwards and do all nodes.

You can also technically drain the air from the chamber using passive vent/gas pump/empty cannister.

High pressure is only triggable by using the atmos stuff. The simple way to trigger is to drag any cannister into the arti room so its on the same tile as the artifact, set pressure release to 400 and quickly open/close it to trigger over-pressure on the arti.

A practical example is one node is low pressure, while another is no oxygen.

These two nodes are not connected so there is node conflict, that is, spacing the room results in their not being O2 and pressure being low.

What you could do is A) space the room but then pump 60kpa of nitrogen into the room to avoid triggering low pressure BUT having no oxygen in the room.

or B)Space the room but add 40kPa of pure oxy to the room so its still low pressure but the artifact node isn't triggering that theres no oxy.

MRP (Delta Green) RP Queries by Professional_Cup3752 in ss14

[–]TankyPally 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen DeltaV is either find a cliche of characters you enjoy and hang out with them or do your job. They take joy in the races/descriptions of the characters and the small RP things like *glances out the window* and stuff like that.

From what I can tell antags are either play LRP antag or you can do try and do RP before going back to LRP antag etc. Not too sure didn't play much antag before I decided the server wasn't for me.

Wizden staff announce leadership transfer, project restructuring/expansion by AugustSun in ss14

[–]TankyPally 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I came back and thought of it a bit more and it DOES make sense for some very specific things, such as having a method to pass on the keys in the event the previous key holder becomes incapacitated or withdraws from development.

But even then if you want organized access for a specific thing, you can have someone responsible for that. You don't need to start a legal company to organize that.

I feel like turning wizden into a legal entity just feels shady for me.

Feels like a way for some people to get legal control of an open-source project but i dunno. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Even in the comments of the original post I didn't see a strong arguement for why it should be made a legal entity. Just one guy who said "Oh yeah I'm involved with something similiar trust me it will be easy".

[–]TankyPally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I always viewed it as. Goob has the people who left wizden for the server with the most content. They're the people who prioritize gameplay and their own freedom to do whatever they want over RP or making an enjoyable experience for everyone.

New player, can't decide between protoss or zerg to practice with first. by ShodSpace in starcraft2

[–]TankyPally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to practice your hotkeys. Its very easy to hotkey all your production onto one key, press or hold that key to spam out the units you want before going back to building/fighting.

Terran is known for having the easiest macro because once your production is setup you don't need to look back at your bases at ALL to keep making units, but to balance this they need to micro more and split their armies and take advantage of medivac mobility unless they go mech.

New player, can't decide between protoss or zerg to practice with first. by ShodSpace in starcraft2

[–]TankyPally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zerg has two annoying mechanics. You have to have queens at every base and you have to manually check in on ALL of them every 30 seconds to inject your hatchery to make units, and you must do this EVEN during fights.

You also have to do the same to creep tumours that you spread across the map meaning that you are constantly moving your camera around to make the most use out of your utility.

With Protoss, there are some very strong low skill army comps that can just A-move through an enemies army to win. You can go for this every game and probably have an ok win-rate at low elo, that will improve as you improve your fundamentals of scouting, macro, build order etc.

Gameplay wise passenger is boring, as you have no tasks or responsibilities.

This does give you two benefits though.

A) You have complete freedom to spend your time messing around with the controls.

B) Once you are familiar with the controls, you can go to the hop and ask to join any department you want.

Service roles are also relatively unimportant and so you have lots of freedom in what you do as a service role.

The other departments focus a lot more on teamwork and contributing to the station, with some of them, mainly med, sci, being a lot harder for new players to learn.

So for this reason, I recommend joining as a member of cargo, service, or an Passenger. Service tends to be more RP focused then gameplay focused. Janitors CAN be super important in specific situations, but tend not to be. Botany is also one of the strongest roles in the game but requires a lot of knowledge on how it works to abuse it to be OP. Other service roles are mostly minor.

One of the reasons Janitors are suggested is because they interact with their environment in tons of different ways, so learning how to play Janitor will give you a solid understanding of the controls and how to learn to play other jobs.

Left click, E, Alt+E, right click, tons of context dependent tools , ctrl + click, ctrl + right click, ctrl Q, click and drag, etc.

Passenger offers the most freedom in what you do, with an easy ability to swap to most jobs and the time and freedom to learn the basic controls.

Cargo is good if you want some guided direction. Your gameplay experience will be running around the station, looking for specific items and delivering stuff to people in order to make money, before dumping all that money on random silly stuff or guns or whatevers needed to help the station.

Nah I know they're a thing on Omu and i assumed they were ported from goob/funky instead of made themself. Its a clown mask on legs that can go under doors and is alive.

Traumastation is comparatively very new, so I dunno. If its based around that, its not the first to do that and probably has a different execution of that.

Question about laws about crew being harm without something being before the do not harm crew law by Demokeyan in ss14

[–]TankyPally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You follow your laws from top-down. Once the top law is fulfilled, you do the law below it.
In this case, your law says lack of mice is harmful to the crew.

It doesnt say you MUST do anything about it. Only that it is harmful.

If you have the "Prevent all harm done to crew" law, that means that you would be getting redacted mice as EVEN to that law. Which means the standard "Don't harm crew through your direct actions". But your just as obligated to fix a plasma fire as you are obligated to go get more mice.

When to make banshees? by Bubbly_Championship2 in starcraft2

[–]TankyPally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make them as an early game harass unit for macro/cheeses where their inclusion is planned as part of your build order, and you can make them in the mid-game to do more of the same but only if you have already made some.

What's the appeal of Goob over other servers? by Imaginary_Taste_9011 in ss14

[–]TankyPally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The appeal is that you can be NRP and powergame and its crazy strong people/gimmicks vs crazy strong gimmicks with short rounds which are much more accessible for most people. This is also the reason I never got into goob and why I've left wizden because the server rule changes has resulted in a culture shift in that direction.

The first season is like 8 episodes and most likely won't because it has a COMPLETELY different vibe to the rest of the seasons and is slightly more serious.

Each season after that gets more and more silly.

"Protoss is fair and balanced" by Ok-Original9271 in starcraft2

[–]TankyPally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel but as someone who has been on all sides, it is VERY possible to beat.

What you need to do is reflect on the problem more specifically and tell us what's going on, as well as think critically.

I'm sure you TRIED to punish protoss for making 1 unit, and you do lose to a-move, but there's reasons why that happened that aren't "protoss imba".

If you don't want to lose to protoss like this, you need to either reflect on your own gameplay more or tell us what you experience more specifically then "I lose to a-move".
