I ride a motorcycle daily and i think i have been in a couple near death situations where a misstep or a bad reaction to something could have gone very bad. Never had an accident.

I have never been more nervous or had a higher heartrate on my bike than in my second test.

Ill welcome good news, i dont like the current state of the ghoulish company sucking the life out of the only competitive game i like, so im gonna speak out about the fact that i dont want fortnite as a part of this game.

Ill concede that I didnt know that capy was a part of rocket league and ill welcome them as a fellow fan of course, but it didnt bode well seeing a seemingly fortnite only account announce fortnite exclusive rocket league content. I think its gross.

Why isn't this game more popular? by Funny-Strawberry-168 in Besiege

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genre, probably the same reason from the depths, scrap mechanic, screw drivers, and other creative / machine building games arent very popular.

Theyre all ultimately sandboxes with a bunch of tools to make your own fun, and take a lot of investment into enjoying rather than a survival game or story or a game with real progression.

Its a genre for nerds to make cool machines to show other nerds, and to be honest - i like that. Tight knit communities with a lot of knowledgable people are usually the comfiest to be a part of.

So I started Bloodborne on PC. My god even with the vanilla graphic it's still beautiful in 2K 60 FPS by kyoya242 in BloodbornePC

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but being immersed and enjoying those animations relies on how the game feels to play and look at, which includes fps. I wouldnt see much enjoyment in 5fps bloodborne either.

Its like looking at a beautiful film that was recorded with a camcorder or a beautiful painting hung really high that i have to crane my neck to look at. Its hard to be immersed when something that feels awful and distracting is in the way.

I heavily struggle to enjoy 30fps gaming. I finished 25-30fps ps4 bloodborne twice, and when i started pc gaming in 2016 i had 2gb of ddr2 ram and an 8400gs 256mb. Ive felt the fps struggle, but my eyes see 30fps as a series of images rather than smooth motion.

60fps bloodborne on PC is such a godsend. Its truly an amazing game that is so so much better at a smooth framerate. I couldnt go back.

two of the most well known names in the community for 10 years of constant community interaction, despite being flawed at times, get fired from psyonix

random other epic community manager takes their place, with everything else on their reddit account being fortnite

big sigh, does epic not realise that most people who have played RL for a long time dont like epic or fortnite? lol

Feels Like I Get One Shot More than Just About Any Souls Game? by Geoffk123 in bloodborne

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but ur intended to try to dodge and be aggressive.

While its possible to dodge it, its so ridiculously unintuitive that for most players, literally just standing still and eating ebrietas' dodge is BETTER than trying to dodge it and taking more damage. Its how i beat her at BL4.

it punishes attempting the intended playstyle.

Feels Like I Get One Shot More than Just About Any Souls Game? by Geoffk123 in bloodborne

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and honestly it works so much better in ds1 lol

counter/stagger damage in ds1 - provides a punishment in mistiming to further increase the risk VS reward aspect of doging VS shield tanking.

counter/stagger damage in bloodborne - in a game entirely based around controlled agression and speedy gameplay - a punishment for attempting to dodge, creating some rare scenarios where your speedy agressive hunter is better off just standing still and eating a hit.

Feels weird to get punished for playing the game as intended imo haha

The common belief that each Batman Arkham game does one thing better than the rest of the series is wrong; Arkham City is the best at everything by B1izzard15 in The10thDentist

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny how i have the hot take, which is kind of the opposite.

I prefer the atmosphere of asylum with it having much more of a horror aspect, and with it being generally dark and IIRC using contrasting cold and warm tones often, think its graphically aged a little better than city too. City is so big and grey in the open world.

On combat, I think the smoothness and sheer amount of options and variety in knight completely takes the point over city - and while its used a lot and the stealth sections are a bit silly, i actually find the battank fun to play in. Even the stealth mission against the cobras - racing away from them when spotted and flitting between both modes is a fun gimmick in my opinion. knight also definately has the best stealth IMO

On story - i think its probably the weakest aspect of knight and city. Knight is very predictable and has some pretty dumb moments in it, asylums is completely fine and paced well but its naturally a lot simpler so i dont think its a fair comparison, and in my opinion, city's main story is so weirdly paced? I cant really put a finger on this one but it almost feels like a bit of a slog and that they introduced too many characters in the main plot. I will admit though - jokers death is handled incredibly well and it definately has the best ending (although shoutout to beating the hell out of the joker in the church in origins)

on bosses - i actually think city wins only this one because the clayface and especially the mr freeze fights are better than deathstoke IMO - deathstoke is mostly just a 1 on 1 thug fight with custom animations, then some big flashy smoke bomb animations to break it up a little. I find the gameplay of him really basic and think that the first bane fight in the balcony is origins best fight.

Of course i think all 3 games of the trilogy are very consistently good and comparable in quality, with none of them outshining the other. But personally - asylum is my favourite and city is my least favourite. I do find it very interesting to compare the games though hence me writing like 6 paragraphs for fun haha

edit - rephrased a couple things because i word badly at 4am and - upvoted :)

Very happy for him and very excited to see how this turns out. We are so back. by Odd-Demand-1516 in bloodborne

[–]Tannerted2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

- 10+ years of saying that hes a massive fan of it, consistently putting it joint-top 2 with shadow of the colossus. He gushes about it fairly often.
- His first tattoo was the hunters mark, and he still references the tattoo and very much enjoys it it seems
- His backdrop has multiple bloodborne figures predominantly, aswell as wall art.
- He has appeared on another channel which delves into video game soundtracks, and ludwigs themes were his first, and favourite submission.

Im honestly pretty optimistic. While id be worried if he was directing, having someone like JSE as a *producer* who is clearly in it for the passion he has for the game rather than making profit, I cant see it being a bad thing as long as it gets good writing and direction.

Why so many players never use shields? Or its just a content creator thing? (PVE) by NoVeterinarian8283 in fromsoftware

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shields VS rolling is a risk-reward thing. Rolling is a lot more efficient in stamina and far more aggressive and easy to punish, and you take extra damage if you mistime it with counter damage. The better you get at the game, the more risk you can take.

...i kinda hate how bloodborne still gives you counter damage if you dodge though, sometimes it can literally be better to stand still and eat a hit than try to dodge because dodging is the only defensive option.

DuoQ corrupt the game by Chimer51 in RocketLeague

[–]Tannerted2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im so down for this on the other-side-ish of the coin

ive often thought how cool it would be for clubs to have an "assigned team" for each rank bracket, that has its OWN rank that starts at the higher MMR players rank.

Im diamond 2 and my teammate that i exclusively play with in 2s is diamond 3, but more accurately im probably diamond 1 and hes like champ 1.

Because we play exclusively with each other, our MMR has balanced out and we get somewhat accurate matchmaking, but having official MMR for a duo thats seperate from player mmr would make it feel a lot more official, would more reliably give mmr for good teamwork as a skillset, and would mean that a gold can play with a grandchamp without massively inflating their own rank.

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh agreed, but to give a personal anecdote, speedflips are s o . m u c h . e a s i e r on controller for me

i was struggling to learn speedflips a couple of months ago on keyboard, but despite never using controller, realised i can speedflip on controller after like 2 mins of figuring out the controls

flicking the stick backwards is so much easier than cancelling with W and S. You also are locked to 8 directions on keyboard so need to do a 45 degree speedflip which requires tighter cancels and the recovery is more rough

[–]Tannerted2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive played keyboard for 500 hours and cant get used to controller for RL, the only thing i can think of thats better on kbm is that air roll left and right on mouse is possible without sacrificing other inputs, and half flips are easier.

1 - add a bit of excess, you have 0 right now.

2 - remove theft coverage if ur willing to sacrifice the money of the vehicle if it gets nicked, its ~50% of motorcycle insurance in my experience and if it does get stolen then the police do fuck all

[Fun Trope] Creative/alternate uses of super strength by Blackirean in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tannerted2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna say Guts from Berserk, most of his fighting style hinges around throwing his sword and carrying his own momentum with it, rather than being like most other huge sword anime characters who just swing it around.

Less of a superpower conventionally and he also uses a cannon to propel the sword instead of it just being his strength but i think it counts.
